Adventures at 40"! May 2014 TR *COMPLETE* 9/10 **NEW** Italy ABD TR link posted 9/29

It sounds like a great start to your MK day! The shadow monsters crack me up! My oldest just started doing the same thing.

I'm glad DS didn't hate Splash - baby steps!

And Disneyland - yay!! How exciting!!

All caught up!

Glad Fantasmic! worked out. I had no idea about Ariel and that blanket. Interesting! I guess the price you pay for getting the coolest/most breathable costume of all the characters is the risk of smoke inhalation. :lmao:

How great that you could see and hear Wishes from your room!

Now that I've read your DH's pet peeve, I totally want to go through some of my pictures and see if there are cutoff building with feet in them. :rotfl2: sadly, I'm sure there are many....

Oh, Paxton's first Splash ride! How cool! So many Disney milestones on this trip.:goodvibes

And I love the ride photos. Makes me regret not going on it the last two trips. I miss B'rer Rabbit.

Finally, about 20 minutes after when it was supposed to start, Fantasmic! got under way! And thank goodness, because DS had been asking and asking when we were going to see the big Mickey show with the dragon.
:thumbsup2 I'm glad that it all worked out!

Did y'all know that before the final fireworks go off, all of the characters go inside the boat to be protected and poor Ariel is just stuck there because of her fin, so Prince Eric just throws a huge blanket over her?! I had read about that awhile ago, but this was the first time actually getting to see it in action since we were on the left side of the theater where the boat exits.
I hope she gets hazard pay and a fire retardant blanket at least. :rotfl2:

But he was still intimidated by being surrounded by people larger than him, and he kept saying, "I'm freakin' out!" I couldn't help but laugh because it sounded so funny to hear him say that, and a few people around us got a chuckle out of it too.
:rotfl2: I could see DS saying the same thing. And I have to say I can't hardly blame him. It would be scary being about 3 1/2' tall and stuck in that mass chaos.

I missed most of it because I was in the shower for the first half, but we found out there was a small benefit to our service view room very close to MK...Not only could we hear Wishes, but we could also SEE Wishes!!!
Well, there you go. Even a bad view at a Disney resort comes with a redeeming quality.

We were up bright and early at 6:30 am thanks to DS, but it's always just a little easier to get up so early when you know you have a day in Disney World ahead of you, isn't it?
Who needs sleep? :hyper:

"It's a new day, leaving behind all the rain and yuck of yesterday. The sun is shining, the tank is clean!"
... and the dumpsters are empty. :thumbsup2

We decided since we were heading to MK and we were literally inside the MK gates (SQUEE!) that instead of driving we would take the bus.
I think the bus might be just a bit faster, but I can't resist the idea of taking the boat from WL to MK. Love that ride.

I asked him why he didn't just take the bus from Pop since it would be quicker than parking and taking the monorail to MK. So they decided to go back to the resort and do just that, only they didn't end up getting to the park until like 11 am! Unfortunately this meant we didn't really get to spend any time together, but they learned their lesson and knew where they were going from then on so they didn't have any more mishaps.
:faint:
Rookies...

There is just no other feeling in the world like the feeling I get when I turn the corner and finally see this stretched out ahead of me!
You've got that right. :goodvibes

Here we encountered a rope, but it wasn't long before that came down and we were able to make our way through Adventureland and over to Frontierland...where we came to ANOTHER rope! There was a line of CM's there who showed us how to "mosey" on over to either Splash Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain. Basically, they were telling us not to run! lol We knew we were riding one of them first thing, but we left the decision up to DS who told us he wanted to ride the log ride. Splash Mountain it is, then!
The rope drop process sounds kind of annoying. I mean, I get why they do it that way, otherwise you'd have people sprinting the long way around to get to A&E, but it is still a bit much.

I could see us getting to BTMRR and Splash quickly, but then DS taking 10 minutes to decide which one he wants to ride first. :lmao:

It will not become a regular thing, though, I promise!
Twice in a row is getting pretty regular... :rolleyes1

Maybe the first time he goes on it and actually enjoys it, we will buy the pic instead! lol
:lmao::rotfl2:

Yikes, sorry my news turned out so long! I'm just SO EXCITED!
You should be excited! That's great news! It should be a lot of fun... both the Italy trip and the Disneyland trip. :thumbsup2

Glad you were able to see fantasmic!

I'm freaking out!! Aww poor kid!

Love the pic of DH making shadow monsters!

So many awesome early morning pics!

Great Splash pics! I'm glad DS held up pretty well on it.

SO excited that you guys will be heading to Disneyland next year!! Amazing news :) And can't believe your Italy trip is right around the corner!

Whether or not you have a great view, I bet seeing the sun that morning was all the view you needed.

That Train Station shot is a tough one to get without others in there somewhere. Good stuff.

Still so glad this morning show still exists. It really makes it extra special now.

Goodness those Splash pictures are fantastic... ESPECIALLY right before the drop. That's tough to get coming out of the dark.

YAY for Disneyland. Those dates are almost exactly the ones I did in 2012 and the weather was spectacular. Not a drop of rain and it cooled off nicely (but not too cold) at night. Plus, crowds were great.

Absolutely!! Even though a rainy day in Disney is better than a sunny day at home, it was definitely nice to see some nice weather for our last day.

It helped we were there SUPER early! Just can't preach enough how much it benefits you to be there before rope drop. Plus, who doesn't want to see that amazing morning show?! I will seriously chain myself to the wall if they try to get rid of that one.

That's so great to hear about March!! We were planning on mid-March at first, but then I read a few blogs that said mid-March gets crazy with spring break crowds. Luckily, there was still availability the first week, and all signs pointed to nice weather and low crowds. Glad to hear it firsthand from a trusted source, too. :thumbsup2

Great TR, great pics and even better news about the DL trip! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

:offtopic: I need to take pic takin' lessons from y'all! Those from Fantasmic and Splash Mtn can't be beat. Maybe I could do okay at Fantasmic but never at Spash Mtn...I'm too busy holding on!!! :sad2:

Thanks, Bill!

I kind of feel the same way about Splash except instead of holding on, I have my hands in the air!! Well, usually...this time I was holding on tight to DS. :rotfl: I'm sure DH would give a few tips to a fellow Who Dat. :goodvibes

It'll be interesting to read about this day and see how often we were at the same place at the same time. I was at the Welcome Show too, but probably waaaay behind y'all. Heading straight to Splash is a genius idea. And the pictures are amazing! So glad Paxton enjoyed it enough!

OH! And so excited for y'all on your Disneyland trip! I so wish I could go. Sounds absolutely amazing.

I know, it seemed like we just kept missing each other that day!! We knew we wanted to ride Splash, and it only seemed to make sense to head there first and completely steer clear of the Anna & Elsa stampede towards Fantasyland. He told me this morning that he wants to ride it again next time we go to Disney World. I'm creating another little Splash lover!!

Thanks! Hopefully you will find yourself there one day, because it's really amazing. I love it so much there!

When you said you were on the left part of the audience for Fantasmic, I was going to mention the Ariel thing, but then you said you were able to see it! Isn't it the funniest thing? I think because of that, I'd like to sit in the front rows of the right and left side of the stage again. I think it's fun to see more of the "behind-the-scenes" things. Plus, the photo opportunities are great! Howard and I sat all the way to the left this past January and LOVED IT. I hope you don't mind my hijacking your TR for a bit since I'm SO FAR from getting up to our DHS day in my current TR right now, but I was taking video of Fantasmic as we were watching it. I was able to catch all the fun things like the evil queen turning into the old hag (she pops out of the rock formation behind the cauldron) and such because of our angle. Ariel was one of them! I just watched that part of the video right now and paused it to get a screen capture of those moments.

In this picture, you can see the blanket to Ariel's right.

Ariel1.jpg

As the lights go out and everyone's attention goes back to the center of the stage, all the characters start walking down to the lower level of the boat. As you said, Ariel can't move down because of her costume, so she turns to the side and Eric throws the blanket over her. It got pretty dark when I was recording, so I switched over to Mickey, but then the crazy bright fireworks meant that I could focus the camera back on the boat!

And there she is! Ariel under the blanket! The picture quality isn't fantastic, but I'll eventually post the video when I get to it, haha.

Ariel2.jpg

We haven't ridden Splash since Howard started focusing more on photography (we got a LITTLE chicken, haha), so it was definitely a treat seeing your pics!

YAY DISNEYLANDDDDDDDD!

Very cool that you got some "insider" pics because of your angle! I love getting those glimpses behind the curtain in Disney. The Ariel thing kind of blows my mind, because it seems so simple to just have her in human form and avoid the whole blanket thing. :confused3 So weird!!

I'm SO excited to go back!!!

I'm glad you were done with the rain and had a sunny day ahead of you!

Yay for the welcome show and Splash. My nephews weren't quite ready for Splash yet so I can't wait to get them on it.

That's so exciting you are going to get to do a Disneyland trip!! And congratulations early on adding to your family. :)

Oh man, we were SO relieved to see the sunshine that morning! We would have toughed it out if it had been raining again, but it was a nice treat not to be faced with downpours again.

Even though I don't think DS loved it at the time, I'm glad we finally got to ride together as a family. I have been looking forward to that day for a long time!

Thanks so much, on both fronts! Hopefully everything goes according to plan....

Next time no ponchos!

Love this!!! I'm so ready to go sans poncho!!

If we ever have a DISmeet and I take a picture of your family, I will make a special note to include all of the building in the picture ;)

I LOVE the "monster" shadow picture!

Oh geez, giving directions in Disney just never works out well. Just follow the purple signs, that's what I tell people.

Love that picture of the fireworks going off during the Welcome show!

Thank you for helping my Splash homesickness :goodvibes such great pictures! I never take pictures because I'm always paranoid about my camera getting wet but one day I'll be brave enough to do so.

Italy is so soon! I'm SO excited to hear about it. And you guys will have a blast in Disneyland! Like I told you, you'll have to drag DS out of Radiator Springs if you want to do anything else there :rotfl:

:lmao: DH will totally appreciate that, Courtney!! DS was having quite a bit ot fun there for awhile until the people really started getting packed in around us.

:rotfl: That's pretty much what I told him!!! I don't really know how to get from place to place around Disney World, but following the signs is SO easy!!

Aww, you're welcome, I go through Splash withdrawal almost daily, so it's nice to have a good set of pics to look through when I need a fix.

I KNOW! Only a little more than 2 weeks to go!! We have already concocted a plan that if I can't ride with them, I will be the FP gatherer every morning while they ride standby together, so hopefully he will get LOTS of rides on RSR! I can't wait to see his face when he turns the corner and walks in for the first time!!

It sounds like a great start to your MK day! The shadow monsters crack me up! My oldest just started doing the same thing.

I'm glad DS didn't hate Splash - baby steps!

And Disneyland - yay!! How exciting!!

It was really such a wonderful & perfect day!! The shadow monster thing is something he had never done before, and it totally cracked us up. I love seeing kids use their imaginations!

Definitely baby steps. :rotfl: He still balks at even the idea of riding BTMR, but we'll get there eventually. :goodvibes

Thanks, we are SO excited!

All caught up!

Glad Fantasmic! worked out. I had no idea about Ariel and that blanket. Interesting! I guess the price you pay for getting the coolest/most breathable costume of all the characters is the risk of smoke inhalation. :lmao:

Oh, Paxton's first Splash ride! How cool! So many Disney milestones on this trip.:goodvibes

And I love the ride photos. Makes me regret not going on it the last two trips. I miss B'rer Rabbit.

:rotfl: Good point on Ariel, especially on those hot summer nights. Sorry, Ariel, you weren't suffocating for the whole show, so now you get a blanket to protect you from the fireworks!!!

He get SO annoyed, and it's kind of comical because he NEVER worried about that before he got so interested in photography. Heck, he's probably done that to a few people over the years. ;)

You know, for such a short trip we did manage to have quite a few Disney milestones. :goodvibes

Thanks, they are good to look through when I need a Splash fix. It has been weird only going on it once per trip lately instead of multiple times like I did before, but it just always seems to fall by the wayside because we're having so much fun with Paxton! I'm sure it's the same for you, and one day Landon will be big enough to ride too!

:thumbsup2 I'm glad that it all worked out!

I hope she gets hazard pay and a fire retardant blanket at least. :rotfl2:

Thanks, I'm so glad it worked out too because I was really starting to miss it even though it's not my favorite of the nighttime shows, and Paxton definitely enjoyed it. I hope she gets SOMETHING for only getting that blanket!! :rotfl:

:rotfl2: I could see DS saying the same thing. And I have to say I can't hardly blame him. It would be scary being about 3 1/2' tall and stuck in that mass chaos.

I know, it has to be hard for them being so small and packed in. But it was pretty funny to hear him keep saying that.

Well, there you go. Even a bad view at a Disney resort comes with a redeeming quality.

Who needs sleep? :hyper:

... and the dumpsters are empty. :thumbsup2

I think the bus might be just a bit faster, but I can't resist the idea of taking the boat from WL to MK. Love that ride.

Well, we went back and forth quite a few times that day, so I may or may not be able to agree with you. ;)

:faint:
Rookies...

Oh, I know, God love 'em. They got a lot better after that morning, and ended up having a great trip! They can't wait to go back, and we're hoping to get to plan a trip together soon.

You've got that right. :goodvibes

I get goosebumps just thinking about it now!

The rope drop process sounds kind of annoying. I mean, I get why they do it that way, otherwise you'd have people sprinting the long way around to get to A&E, but it is still a bit much.

I. KNOW. I kind of expected the rope at Adventureland, but I figured once we got away from the hub we'd be good to go. Encountering another rope was just annoying when you're ready to get going in the morning!

I could see us getting to BTMRR and Splash quickly, but then DS taking 10 minutes to decide which one he wants to ride first. :lmao:

:rotfl: Not DS, he was fairly certain he did NOT want to ride the really fast train ride!!!

Twice in a row is getting pretty regular... :rolleyes1

Trust me, I was actually thinking that as I put that thing on! :scared:

:lmao::rotfl2:

You should be excited! That's great news! It should be a lot of fun... both the Italy trip and the Disneyland trip. :thumbsup2

Thanks, I'm so excited about both of them!!!

Glad you were able to see fantasmic!

Great Splash pics! I'm glad DS held up pretty well on it.

SO excited that you guys will be heading to Disneyland next year!! Amazing news :) And can't believe your Italy trip is right around the corner!

I'm so glad we were finally able to see it too. It's not something I want to see every trip, but it stinks trying so hard to let DS experience it and almost getting shut out again! I felt bad laughing at him because he was legitimately worried, but it was just so funny!

Joining in! I just read your previous (pre-3 yr old) TR cause I'm on the search for toddler TR since we're taking my 2y 9m toddler in Jan. I got some good ideas from things that went well for you or things that didn't work. So thanks!
Enjoying this one too! :D

I hope you have a great trip in January!!! I never would have thought taking a toddler to Disney World would be so much fun, but it has proven over and over to be the case for us. :goodvibes Reading trip reports of people taking their little ones was what helped convince me & DH to take DS on that first trip and helped us out so much in planning it, so I'm glad you are getting some tips from our experiences too!

I totally see nothing wrong with a poncho. Nothing whatsoever! :rotfl2: I had an emergency poncho at Busch gardens this week and when everyone else was walking around soaked, I stayed dry. :thumbsup2

Congrats on the DL trip! Sounds awesome!

Love all the pictures on Splash Mtn. I am not that brave with my camera in the water (and I have a poncho on). I think I need to step it up a bit.

Fun updates!

Haha I know, I know, a poncho is not the end of the world. But as a Splash purist, it feels like cheating to wear one!!! :rotfl:

Thanks!! I couldn't be more excited. I hope the weather and crowds hold up well for us, but even if they don't, I'm just so happy to be heading back. I thought it would be a lot longer before we got ourselves back to the original park.

I was surprised DH was as brave with the camera as he was, but he had a plan for keeping it dry and it seemed to work. :thumbsup2

Day 4 Continued: Sunday May 4th

After surviving his first MK Mountain, we couldn't leave the area without letting him check out the play area nearby.

After a quick trip through a much less intimidating Laughin' Place, we bid farewell to my most beloved Disney World attraction and decided we were ready to head for more small scale rides that are more DS's speed.

Waving to Daddy
When we got to Fantasyland, DS kept saying he wanted to go on the Carrousel. I convinced DH that we should just get it out of the way since he was going to keep asking for it, so we got in line. However, we quickly realized that the line was WAY WAY longer than we have ever seen for that ride, and we started getting a sense of what the day was going to be like. We hopped out of line, much to DS's distress, and headed over to Winnie the Pooh. It had a 20 minute wait, which was terrible for that early in the morning, but at least it has an interactive queue to keep DS busy. DH was pretty unhappy to be getting in a 20 minute line first thing in the morning, but from the looks of it, things just weren't going to be walk-on.

Although it killed DH and I to have waited so long for such a short attraction, DS really enjoyed himself, both in the queue and on the ride itself. Next, we decided to go over to Storybook Circus.

04-091
by disneymom1024, on Flickr
Dumbo had a 15 minute posted wait, so we hopped in line there.

04-093
by disneymom1024, on Flickr
I made a judgment error though when we got to the point where you can leave the line and go to the play area. They were handing out pagers, so I assumed that was so they could, ya know, PAGE ME when it was time to ride. But then just as we lost DS into the depths of the climbing area, DH said they were just letting you go play for as long as you want, and then you had to join the line at the same point whenever you wanted to go ride, it wasn't actually functioning as a virtual queue or whatever it's intended as.

So that made for an extremely fun moment when we had to drag DS out of there kicking and screaming because he wanted to keep playing! Once we got to the outside part and he realized we were about to ride Dumbo, the play area was forgotten.

Day 4 Continued: Sunday May 4th

All of a sudden, it was nearly 11 am and we had only ridden three things! But I think it was definitely a product of the weather. Not only had we gotten rain-soaked the day before, so had the people who had been there the past few days as it had been raining almost non-stop for that long until this morning. The first day in a few of beautiful, warm weather with no rain clouds in sight meant HUGE crowds at Magic Kingdom!

But we trudged on and decided to ride another favorite of DS's and ride Small World before the line got too out of control.

Our first FP+ for the day was at 11:15 am for Peter Pan's Flight, but we were still a bit too early for it when we exited Small World. So we decided to kill some time looking through the Mickey's PhilharMagic store since they usually have some unique Donald merchandise for DH to look through. We didn't get lucky on Donald merchandise, but DS did find a pair of ears he wanted to try on.

04-119
by disneymom1024, on Flickr
So cute, but we didn't buy them. After browsing but not buying anything, we stepped outside and noticed that the FP+ line for Peter Pan seemed pretty long. So even though it wasn't quite 11:15, we got in line and figured we'd be to the front of the line by the time our FP+ came active. The length of the FP+ line was actually pretty freaking absurd, but we didn't have much choice but to get in since the standby line was even longer!

DH tried his best to take pics in there, but that ride still eludes him when it comes to getting good, clear photos. But, he did manage to get my absolute favorite scene...

When we came off of Peter Pan, we were about ready for lunch, and we knew just where we wanted to go! We turned towards the greatest restrooms of all time to pass them on our way to our lunch destination, and who can walk past them without taking photos?!

As always, we decided to eat upstairs, so I took DS up first while DH got us some food. It's always so nice and quiet up there compared to the seating on the ground floor. There was a KTTK tour eating, so our favorite area to eat in was roped off, but we still found a spot easily.

My handsome lunch date
After lunch, we stopped by the stroller to reapply sunscreen and mosey on over to Adventureland for our 12:15 pm FP+. Originally, I was so hesitant to book a FP+ for this ride because we are almost always able to get on in 20 minutes or less. It turned out to be a good decision because the standby line was ENORMOUS!!!! This is the point where I learned that having a FP+ for a ride was great, but when you didn't have one, it was a huge disadvantage. I felt bad for all the people queueing up in the outside portion of the queue in endless switchbacks because I knew that could have easily been us or we would have just skipped Pirates altogether.

We figured it was about time to make our way to Main Street as the time for his traditional haircut at the Harmony Barber Shop was getting closer and we didn’t think we had enough time to ride anything else in the meantime. Our plan was just to shop at the Emporium, but we ended up running into the Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It parade so of course we had to stop and watch.

04-165 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

After a look through the Emporium, we went over to the Barber Shop. While I went to check in, DH took DS over to the fire station to get a pack of Sorcerer cards to play with while we waited. Meanwhile, I caught a bit of the Dapper Dans!

04-166 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

One more look at that ridiculously long hair before it went away! I don’t normally let his hair get so long, but when we have a Disney trip coming up, the last thing I want to do is get it cut too close before our trip and have a haircut there be unnecessary.

04-168 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Michael, who cut DS’s hair on his 2nd birthday trip, was working that day, but we were called by CM Shawna for his turn. She did a great job as well! DS did fine this time and didn’t freak out when his hair got sprayed with the water. That’s usually the point where if he’s going to cry, it’s happening right then. But with a Dusty light up toy to keep him busy, he was fine.

All done!
Although I didn't get my usual before-photo at the barber pole, he was more cooperative for the after-photo.

All morning, I had been texting back and forth with my aunt & uncle, but they were always in a completely different part of the park than us. We were headed to Frontierland to use our last FP+ for Big Thunder Mountain, and they were in Adventureland riding the Magic Carpets, so we went through Adventureland again to get to our destination with a detour at the Carpets. I found Jessica over by the stroller waiting for her crew, who were in the 40 MINUTE LINE for the Magic Carpets!!! Think it was a little crowded that day or what? I asked where Uncle David and the kids were, and she pointed them out to me. We were able to wave to my uncle, who looked positively MISERABLE in that line, but that was it. Didn't get to talk to him or see the kids. Bummer! We spent a few minutes chatting with Jess, who was a bit nervous that their entire first trip was going to be plagued with the long lines we were experiencing all day and the brutal heat and sun. But once they got back and we had a chance to compare trips, they ended up having a great week with tolerable weather and much better crowds than we were experiencing that day.

We continued on to Frontierland and went right to Big Thunder Mountain to use our FP+. This didn't go as well as we had hoped. We got through the line and DS made it through with his height no problem, but he was starting to cry as we got to the boarding area. We requested the front car, since it's a little slower and less wild feeling, and the CM's were able to accommodate the request, but DS was now getting hysterical. There was a chance we'd get him on and he'd love it, but we decided we weren't willing to take the chance. I told DH to go ahead and ride and I'd just take DS off. Good choice, because even just stepping into the car holding DS to walk through to the other side of the platform, he completely lost it and was screaming not to go and planting his feet to keep me from sitting down! Then I felt bad for even trying to take him on the ride in the first place, but I know there's no way I could have known how he would react.

I took him down to the Briar Patch store to cool down while DH rode.

I had been texting back and forth with Melissa (dtr_angel) all morning, and we had been just missing each other. But now they were in the area waiting in a long line at a FP+ kiosk in Frontierland to book an additional FP+ ride, so she said they would meet me at the store when they finished. We all came together at the front of the store as DH was coming off of the ride, and like she said in her TR, it was just like meeting up with an old friend even though it was our first time meeting!

We all decided to head to Main Street together to look for a spot for the parade, and DH and DS got ahead of us with the stroller, but I hung back to walk with Melissa, her DH Daniel, and her son Gavin sleeping in his stroller. We just had tons to chat about! We compared how our boys had done on the long drives down, and what we had been doing for the morning. It was so great!

The parade route was pretty packed by then, but we managed to find a spot on the front row where the tape had been placed on the ground around the hub. We still had a bit to wait, and I think everyone was in need of some kind of refreshment. Daniel headed off for Starbucks (I was floored when Melissa told me there are NO Starbucks where they live!!) and DH went to get popcorn for DS who was showing signs of getting very tired. When he came back, he only had a couple of ice waters, because he hadn't found popcorn, but I had seen a cart nearby that also had ice cream and I had a craving of my own, so I offered to go.

DS enjoying his popcorn
I knew we would be trying to get out of the park ASAP once the parade ended, and from the huge crowds of people on the streets I knew it would be a madhouse. So I suggested Melissa & I get a photo to commemorate this wonderful DIS meet before the parade started!

Although we had people trying to poach Daniel's spot, we all managed to stand wide and save him some cement for when he came back (those Mardi Gras skills come in handy sometimes :thumbsup2). And then it was parade time!

UP NEXT: It's a Festival of Fantasy!

Having been off the DIS grid for such a long time I had a lot of catching up to do but I just did!

Great to hear that you all had a better Fantasmic experience than last time albeit the backstage exit at the end. ;)

Yay, you got to meet Brenda! They are such a pleasure to be around!

I can sympathize with your rainy day at DHS - was having some deja vu moments from our January trip but your DS seems to have had a better stroller cover situation than our DS did with our makeshift poncho converted to stroller cover. :rotfl:

The whole Frozen rush at rope drop is just crazy and we have no intentions of taking part in that even though I was unable to secure FP+s for it last night when our window opened. We'll still enjoy the opening show and take our time walking into MK.

Although I would have loved to catch up with you again if you had made your trip to DC next year, I think you're making the right call. The first week of March is still not vacation-friendly temperatures compared to California or Vegas. Good call on Vegas. I was just there three weekends ago to meet up with my friends while the kids spent time in Ohio and was thinking the same thing that I'd probably wait until the kids are 18 before bringing them here. :rotfl2:

Awesome that you get to go to DLR! Even though we just spent a single day it was so worth it and just as fun as WDW!

I guess it's only right to let him play after braving the Mountain for the first time.

Awww, did DS make a friend in the Pooh line?

Oh Lord yes. Crowd calenders can be thrown out when you get a lot of rain. As soon as that sun peeks out, they swarm the Kingdom.

Haha, Drunk Hippo. Which ironically is the only way you'd get me on that ride. Maybe.

I think Pirates is one of the biggest changes from FP+. That standby line can get pretty crazy now.

Move It Shake It!! <3 I hope it hasn't changed yet when I'm there in a couple of weeks.

Awww, I love a good DISmeet. You're becoming a pro!! But... No Starbucks where they live??? Is that even possible???

Great updates and pics. The POTC pics are gorgeous. How did you do it?

Aww, too bad DS didn't want to ride Thunder Mountain, but you get a Good Mom Award for not forcing him! I think that it must be so difficult making decisions like that when you know it's possible the fear of the ride could turn into a great love for the ride because you as the parent know your child. At the same time, you also don't want to be the mom who forces your kid on the ride and scars him on future experiences. I tried to practice those judgment calls with my younger brother because my dad would tell him the ride was nothing and not scary, but then once we got in, he purposely tried to make it extra exciting and sometimes scary! I knew that he needed to know what to expect so I'd tell him about the drop in Pirates and when it was coming up instead of being taken by surprise.

I think I'm babbling because it's late, so I don't know if it makes sense, haha.

Yikes! MK sounded like a madhouse that day. I've been in May three times now, and I've noticed the crowds getting bigger and bigger each year. Lots of people have learned that secret time to go.
Not to me too. FP has increased a lot of wait times. Pirates is now at ridiculous times.

Sorry DS didn't want to ride Big Thunder. But it was smart of you not to push it. Hopefully on your next trip he'll be up for it.

Love that Paxton got his hair cut again at Harmony Barber Shop. A great tradition!

How cool you got to meet Melissa! I can only imagine you two had a lot to talk about. Both of you having boys around the same age, I'm sure you never ran out of talking points. It's pretty neat how the DIS can bring you to people both extremely similar to you and to folks you'd never normally have anything in common sigh. It's great like that.

Oooof those are some bad crowds that early in the morning! It looks like you got a lot of favorites in, though. I love the pictures from the Pooh queue!

I feel your pain, I've always waited a long time in the Peter Pan FP+ line. :confused3

The haircut looks great!

I didn't ride Big Thunder until I was 7 or 8 so I understand DS's reaction. But he'll have many more chances to ride it over the years, I'm sure :thumbsup2
