Hi guys! I got this message from someone last night. Anyone got some fun memories to share? Going to send her the link so she can check for responses. Thanks!

Hi! I saw your post supporting Adv Club and wanted to let you know that I'm putting together "memory" books to give to the cast closing night. I have a couple of friends on cast at AC who are collecting cast and crew memories/stories, and I've been combing the message boards for potential participants. I'm hoping for a collection of stories that show why the club is such a special place, and what it's meant to its guests during its lifetime. Basically, why do you enjoy the club? What's your favorite club moment? If you're interested, please email me whatever you'd like to include - and if you know of anyone else, feel free to pass along my contact information.

Bumping...

You can also PM them to me if you wish and I'll pass them on. Kungaloosh!

Mine was from May 2008. Two things to know a head of time: That night I had spoken to Pamelia Perkins earlier in the evening and as a wheelchair user I carry my drink in my lap...Well as I was exiting the library Pamelia rushes over to me and declares to Fletcher Hodges that I'm her boyfriend. Then she hops into my lap and asks for a ride over to the library entrance. I smile at her and say "I'd be happy to give you a ride but there's just one problem. You're sitting on my drink." :rotfl2: She jumps out of my lap and I pick up my drink. I hold it up to the room and announce "Not a drop spilled!!!" Which gets some applause. :thumbsup2 Pamelia then takes my drink hops back into my lap and I give her a ride over to the library.

Things like that are what make the AC so special to me. You can see shows, watch movies, shop, and eat anywhere. But only at the AC do you become part of the show.

In 2006 my mother in law suddenly passed away while my DH and I were in Disney World. We found out on our second day of an 8 day trip. My MIL was in the hospital when we left due to some of her levels being not quite right (she was a diebetic and kidney transpantee). She assured us all was fine and that we had to go on the trip and and stay no matter what.

I remember my stomach dropping when she said that and thinking it was odd. We really thought this trip to the hospital was no big deal.

Well, it was. She was gone without warning. After I had to pass on the news to Dh in our room at POP, I assumed we would be leaving. After a period of freaking out, DH decided we were going to stay for the rest of the trip.

It's so hard to convey the thought of doing this at such a time. All I can say is that his mom and the creator knew that he thrives on people and children and that there was no better place in the world to be when this happened for him.

The next night I had planned to go to DH's favorite spot on Disney property, the Adventurer's Club. We had taken an easy lazy day of reflection and mourning and DH decided that was just where he needed to go. It was, afterall his mom's favorite place at Disney as well. Once we got there, it was a great night as always. We had a ton of fun and DH got picked on for the first time. He was wearing a bandanna and all of the cast thought it was really funny for some reason. He became Samantha's "special pirate" and between her and the rest of the crew, DH was the star of the show. Whether we were in the bar or the library, everyone found ways to tease him.

It wasn't until we got back home that I found out just how much this evening had meant to my DH. He wrote a letter to the AC crew explaining the situation and profusely thanking them for what they had done to help him heal without even knowing.

There were many other moments in that trip that were magical for us, but by far the trip to the AC stood out in DH's mind as an incredibly healing experience.

Last year we went back. "Our" Samantha was playing the role again and DH actually found the chance to thank her in person after he was featured (again) in one of her routines. The funny thing was that she was the only actor who was the same from our last trip. A few of them were completely different, most were just playing different roles, but Sam, who had made it so special on the first trip, was the same.

We're going back next month for our big farewell. It is so so hard for us to see this place close. I know many who have never experienced it just can't understand, but this is a huge loss for us.
Sorry this is long and sad, but you asked for my memories! DH's mom was the most amazing person I've ever met. She was my mom as much as his and truely an angel on earth. I miss her every single day.

Sorry so long!! :teeth:

Very sweet story, glad for your DH!;) I went to the club back in 1999, didn't really know WHAT was going on there, but I LOVED the Decor!;) I went again the next 2 years, and was finally able to have DH attend one night about 3 years ago...we went with Friends of mine and her 2 girls, one of them dating age, and had her than boyfriend along. Well, we ALL went to AC and wound up in the Library I believe, a room I had never been in before, so that was exciting....I forget what the "theme" was but, the "actor" went over to my Friends DD's Boyfriend and tried to start a "conversation" with him....I guess he wasn't in the Mood and the "Actor" picked up on that and said, real loud I might add..."What are you a Slacker?" Well, me and DH started rolling with Laughter, and needless to say the BF did not find it funny!:sad2: Well, WE sure did, and we had a nickname for the BF-SLACKER! What a great bunch of people at that club, it was really a unique experience!:thumbsup2

My earliest memories of the AC was from when I was a kid, going with my parents early in the evening and I am so glad that I also had the opportunity to experience the AC as an adult. My fondest memory of the AC was from summer '07. My fiance and I went to the AC the night after we were engaged to celebrate. Even though it was summer, the club was not crowded and we spent the whole night hanging out in the bar. Even as the shows were going on from room to room, we stayed by ourselves and hung out with the castmembers who weren't part of the show. We spent some time speaking with Emil, Pamelia, and Tish. They congratulated us on our engagement and just chatted us up. I keep trying to think of a funny or special thing that happened that night but there really was no stand out moment. Just being there and spending time with everyone was so much fun and still we felt like we were just at a friend's house...a friend with booze! We always remember that night as part of our engagement and were looking forward to many years together in WDW with a visit to the AC and are very sad that we won't be able to go there again. But we will always remember our last visit to the AC as an extra special one!

Aside from the pictures in my signature, here are a couple other pictures from that night...

Wow! You and the maid look a lot alike! lol I think it's just the picture, but still. :teeth:

I have two separate great memories of AC.

One August I had finally talked my sister into a WDW trip because of Animal Kingdom - she love animals. One night I talked her into going to Pleasure Island. I told her the first place we went had to be AC. She had to sit thru one show in the library and then I would go to a dance club with her. Well, she was hooked. We were there until the last show.

That next February DH and I were in Disney World to celebrate the 25th anniversary of our first date. That night at AC the "club president" (a woman that time" picked DH to flirt with. She called him up on stage to dance with her and after that everytime she saw him that evening she sat with us and tried to get him to send me home. He loved it and it made the trip for us.

This kind of thread is a better fit on the theme parks community board, so I'm going to go ahead and move it there now.

There is a "Save the AC" podcast going on right now if anyone wants to call in live!
