I am so glad that these boards encouraged DH and I to go on our recent trip. What fun!!! We were there for the first "meeting" of the night after we went to the Comedy Club (ernest performers but just not funny) The AC more than made our evening!

DH and I were planning to go during his birthday trip (Dec.), but we were having so much fun at the parks, we never made it there.

How smoky is the club?? I hesitated going there last weekend because I wasn't sure I could face the cigarette smoke of a club.

Please give us your review on it with lotsa details! I saw it in '96 and want to know if it is still as good, how long is it, and just how it all works again! THANKS!

We went in December and just loved AC! It was so much fun and the characters were outstanding! We got to go to the library show (I've never seen that one) and it was hilarious. I loved Penelope (I think that was her name) -- "Well, heeeelllllllooooooooooooooo." I can still hear her in my head and it makes me smile every time.

The AC is truly a unique concept and I didn't think it was smoky at all. I don't always notice that though, but my SIL is sensitive to smoke and she didn't say a word.

KUNGALOOSH is the official Adventurer's Club salute / toast. It is often exclaimed while performing the secret club salute (which you learn during the new member induction ceremony). There is also a drink called the Kungaloosh. It is made out of Captain Morgan Original spiced rum, blackberry brandy liquer, orange and strawberry juices.

All the clubs at PI are non-smoking. Have they changed this recently?

Come to think of it, the only indoor place on property (save smoking designated rooms at the resorts) that allows smoking is Jellyrolls. Any others?

All of the clubs are non-smoking at Pleasure Island, you can only smoke outdoors.

This will not and cannot change due to the liquor and food licence.

"Kungaloosh" is an all purpose word. It can mean "Hello", "Goodbye" or "Put extra cheese on it".

Glad you enjoyed it...I'm looking forward to visiting Sam Sterling and the crew in a few weeks.

Sincerely,

John "anotherboardnposter" Kilduff

I think my DW enjoyed the Comedy Club more but I didn't. Maybe they just had a bad night or the suggestions they got from the audience weren't good ones to work with. The AC was better, although not hilarious. We caught the adventures in 4 rooms, including the library, the mask room and the room with the Genie, as well as the "entry room" with the Yak and the Colonel. It was pretty good. Kungaloosh!

I can't wait to check out AC next trip. I've never gone over to PI as I don't drink & my son was too young (IMHO) Now that he's 16, doing Improv & Theater at school, I think he's old enough to appreciate AC & CW. We have plans to go a bunch of nights.I have a feeling it'll be right up my alley.

would anyone reccomend bringing 14 & 17yr old boys to AC. we are planning to visit PI a few times during our next trip due to staying at SSR so i was thinking of things we could do together as a family at PI. we told them that one night we would bring them but any other time we go is just for mom and dad to enjoy a solo night out :cool1: :cool1:

to be honest i am secretly hoping they go back to the adults only admission at PI or make it adults only after 10pm

You're not the only one hoping.

OMG I so love the AC!!!! We ended up going there first because of the advice I got on this board last year and we walked into a couple of other clubs but then just went back to the AC, it is so awesome! My DH was called up on the stage during one of the performances in the library and the french canadian maid made fun of him for being from SC it was great! I'm getting a monkeynut this year!

I love the AC. :)

I even have a room at home that I have decorated like it. We call it The Treasure Room, but really, it's a mix of all the AC rooms, with books about exotic places, interesting plaques and masks and things on the walls, cool statues and things and some chairs. It's sort of a reading room. :)

I loved Penelope (I think that was her name) -- "Well, heeeelllllllooooooooooooooo."

Pamelia Perkins, Club President.

For those who asked, I think the AC is fine for teenagers who are into that sort of vaudeville/Monty Pythonesque humor thing.
