So i woke up this morning and realised that it was Dec 1st and my kids, for the first time in 9 years, did not have an advent calender to open!!! Does anyone know where i can get a chocolate one from? I am in S New Jersey.

Thank you

I got mine at Target in Long Island. It was in the candy section & $2.99 each.

I saw some at Target on Sunday. I don't know if you have a Christmas Tree Shop by you, but ours had piles of them. You could also order online...Bronners.com (have them fast shipped and have fun catching up).

We always get ours at Trader Joe's. They are usually about $2 each with yummy German chocolate!

My Trader Joe's had them (today) for 99 cents! Bought one for each of my kiddos - yay! :cool1:

karenos;)

They were only $1 at Trader Joe's yesterday.

Regarding Advent Calendars -- do you start with number 1 or number 24? I always start with 24, but am thinking that might be wrong.

I saw them at Christmas Tree shop on black Friday - they had tons of them for $1.00 each with chocolate in them. You start with number one(1) as far as I know. That's how we've always done it and on the ones that have sayings or count down to Jesus's birth, the messages under the doors tell the story and it starts with number one.:cutie:

I got ours at the Christmas Tree Shop for $1 also...before Black Friday.

We start w/ #1 also & count down the days also. Used to be they had a 25 door also that was double w/ the biggest piece of chocolate. :) That was for Christmas Day. Now most seem to go only to 24.

My MIL got one for DS at the Christmas Tree Shop. We start at 1 ... for the 1st of December! Make sense to me ... They did use to have a 25.

I have never heard of starting at 24. The numbers coincide with the dates. I have an advent calender with all characters of the nativity and the first one you put into pocket #1 is the Star, the last one goes into pocket#24-baby Jesus.

I got the last one at CVS today. It's a Russell Stover one with Snoopy and the Gang on each day. I usually get the ones at Christmas Tree Shop, but I wasn't in the mood to drive 25 minutes each way just for that.

I saw some at Walgreens yesterday.

anyone looking for a "toy" one TJ maxx had the playmobile pirate advent calender.

Thank you everyone for your quick responses, i knew if anyone could help me find one it would be my Disboard buddies.

I saw them at Michaels at the end of October, but was not thinking that far ahead. Michaels did not have any, so i ran to Trader Joes and got two for 0.99 each, Target would have been my next try. It was very hard walking in TJ with out looking at anything else, i love that store!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you :worship:

I got a cute one at Toys R Us with forest animals and Santa a couple of weeks ago.

To the OP: I'm glad you found one so quick. I'm thinking I might need a chocolate one as well!

Good to see you found them, but if anyone is looking and can't find any, our kids always get the chocolate ones, but we also make our own countdown ones too. We take the candy dots (the little candies on paper) and make them into candy chains. They get to eat one ring a day. You can cut them into thirds the long way so they don't get as much candy.

I let them eat either the ring of dots or the chocolate in the morning before school and the other after school. Add that to the 5 non-edible advent calendars we do each day and December days are full.

I know I'm late here, but I just bought an advent "calender" at Costco today. It is three buildings of a Christmas Village. Each building has doors, windows and other numbered hidden compartments. It is a great decoration that I put candy coins in for all three kids. It was just under $15.
