Advantage Car Rental - Payment Inquiry

Hello...

I have a reservation through Advantage for our upcoming trip. I've never used them before. Just wondering how others experience have been? I'm also wondering how their payment process works? Do they charge at the time of rental or pick up? Do they put an additional charge/hold as well? Can you pay with debit at time of pick up? I've looked on their site but I'm still a bit confused...which doesn't take much these days

I have "dealt" with advantage recently. Not too sure about holds on cards and debit cards, but they do not fully charge until the rental return. A couple things to be aware of during the check out process:

They will PUSH the insurance on you. They will tell you that they do not deal with personal car insurance if something happens to the car and stuff like that. When you decline, they will ask you how you will pay if something happens to the car. The guy I had was rude about it.

Of course, they will push the prepaid fuel fill up upon return. Our guy told us that the gas prices around the corner were about $2 more than what they would charge. Sounded good, so we agreed to it. We drove around the corner, and the gas was about .10 more than they gave us. We went the other way, thinking that he may have meant the other gas station, and it was the same, about .10 more. We went back and had the prepaid fuel taken off of our reservation. It was just dishonest.

However, the car was fine and the rate was good, so if can get past their misleading sales tactics, it was fine.
