advanced payment and DDP - did something change?

I made reservations for HDDR for our Sep/Oct trip back in March. At that time I did not have to pay in advance for the reservation. I wanted to change the time on our reservation and when I tried to do that, it asked for advanced payment (not just cc hold, but actual payment). Has something changed since March?

I did see the sticky that says HDDR is prepaid, but I did not prepay it when I booked. I also booked CRT and I did not prepay it either.

Do you have a dining plan? It's been a fully prepaid reservation at the time of booking for CRT and HDDR for many years.

Yes, I have a dining plan.

I did not prepay either of them.

That would be why. You linked your dining plan to the reservations and indicated that you would be using dining plan credits.

You only had to give your credit card information for the cancellation/no show guarantee, but you didn't have to pay anything when you made the res.

By saying you want to change the time of your res, you are actually looking for a new reservation. You'll have to link your dining plan again if you don't want to pay. Also, not all show times/seating categories are included in the dining plan, so be sure you're choosing one that is.

With Disney's wonky web site I actually had to call to link CRT to my DxDP but was finally able to do it without pre-paying.

There is a link when you go to book dining, it says "use my dining plan to book pre-paid reservations" and it's there at the bottom of the booking search box (where you enter the park, dates, times...etc). Click on that and it'll tell you how to link it so you won't have to pre-pay at those locations.

I've always just made sure to sign in before booking, that way it's linked to my resort reservation.
