This is going to be a long one!
Okay, so I told dh2b to wake me up when he leaves this morning so that I can reset the alarm to be up at 6:45 and start calling at 7am (probably not neccessary, but there's something about Disney/Wedding planning that turns a regularly laid-back, go-with-the-flow gal into a totally anal, raving lunatic!!)
Change of plans. Around 5:45 I hear dh2b start to get into the shower and immediately afterwards there are strange, gagging sounds coming from the kids bedroom. Yep. DD has the flu and has just vomited all over herself and her crib!
Flash forward an hour and fifteen minutes. DD has refused to go back to sleep and is sitting in her booster chair as I call Disney Dining. I navigate my way through the automated service, am on hold with some Randy Newman tune (from which Pixar movie I cannot recall) for only a short while, when the line begins to ring...and ring...and ring...aaaaannnnnnddd...click. They hung up on me!!!!! Now if this were the morning I were trying to make reservations for the Illumination Cruise I probably wouldn't be writing this now (I'd be in the midst of being sedated by two very large men in white coats!), but I calmly call back and this time after the automated service I get a representative right away. Great! Right? Well, sort of. Turns out the woman I got (who doesn't speak the greatest english to begin with) has a monster cold and not only can't understand me half the time, but seems to be working a bit slow today! Do I call back and risk winding up in a long que? Nah...I can survive!
So, fifteen minutes into the call (and only half-way through my reservation list) I hear that dreaded gurgling sound coming from DD!! Yep. Sick again! Only this time it's the other end!! And it's all over the place (back, legs, chair...sorry I know this is tmi and too gross!).
So. Do I behave like a good mommy and politely get off the phone to attend to dd? Or do I do the unthinkable and trudge through, not letting anything get in the way of my "perfect" wedding vacation?
I think we all know the answer to that one (hanging my head in shame).
Anyway, I did get all my reservations (
) and DD is now fresh as a daisy (for now), but I do have a few tips for those who haven't made their ressies yet:
1. Put 1-407-WDW-DINE on speed dial and press away!
2. If you speak english, are out of the Orlando area, NOT making V&A ressies and aren't making ressies for the current week: press #1, #1, #2, enter phone number, hit #, press #2 (I could probably do that in my sleep now)...it might help to call a few days ahead to make sure you get it right! Again, anal, but I did get several Character B-fasts booked for 12!
3. If you get a slow-as-molasses rep with a cold, don't hang up. Just pop a Xanax
and proceed on!
Can't wait until July when I get to do this again! I'd better start exercising my dialing fingers!!!
