Adut Acne.....***!!!!!!!

Thanks I have an appt with my regular MD this week. I dont dare go to the Derm in the summer. They will lecture me on sun exposure....:scared1:

The area you are describing......is it just around your mouth? If so it might not be acne but peri oral dermatitis.

The ONLY thing that helped my acne was birth control pills, specifically Yaz. And I tried everything, every cream , gel, Proactive, changing diets, super expensive laser treatments. Breaking out along your jawline is a classic sign of hormonal imbalance acne that BC pills can help.

I agree with you on this. I didn't get on Yaz for breakouts. I had other female issues. After getting on it, breakouts were not so bad. Now, I changed my make up to bare escentuals and it's even better. I have one every once in a while.

Okay, first of all..I am not saying this will work for everyone. I have had breakouts, particularly with "hormonal changes" every month I can remember. I have the scars and the whole works, mostly around my chin and mouth. I started dieting 2 months ago, and drinking around 72 oz of water a day, and I have not had a breakout since. I didn't notice it the first month, but the second one I did, and it was truly a "holy ****" type of moment. I would say to try drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day if you don't already. It certainly couldn't hurt..and it's free!

Ya know. I've always been a water drinker, but recently (about 2 months ago) I removed all white flour, refined sugar & processed foods from our diet. Also upped the veggie consumption. So this, along with my med routine, may be what finally "cured" my outbreaks. After all, what you put in definitely effects what comes out (of your pores that is).

Now, if only there was a way to get rid of the scarring faster. :)

I know what you mean! We rarely do any white flour at all either, all whole grains, but the diet was the only thing that had changed, so I was excited! We also upped the fruit & veggie consumption, so that could have something to do with it as well. I just know I'm loving it, for the first time in 25 yrs I am not breaking out every month like clockwork!

Here is what I do on a daily basis:

1. 8 glasses of water w/lemon each day (water by itself is hard to drink so much of)
2. Maximum strength Proactiv
3. A medical grade skin care line (OBAJI). You can buy it on Ebay for less!
4. Retinol-A (Yayyyy for my insurance picking up the tab) It is a generic, but exactly the same thing.

Nothing works right away, so don't give up! Give it a little while before quitting.

Ohhh....and stop picking!!!! ;)

I, too had acne scarring. I would get dark spots that lasted for a long, long time. My Clinique person sold me something called Even Better skin corrector. It works!!! My dark scars have lightened to the point that they're hardly visible. It's a bit pricey but worth it.

For those of you with acne scarring, let me tell you about Sciton's Profractional laser "surgery/procedure" from the cosmetic surgeon's office. It is a laser that goes into your deeper layers of the dermis and helps rebuild collagen. You can Youtube this procedure so you see what it is like.

I have done this to remove very old chicken pox scars from my forehead.

It isn't cheap, but it is permanent.

That is why in my earlier post I said "stop picking." It will cost ya!!!

Let's see if this link works. If not, sorry..I am a newbie at this.

Thanks! I'll check this stuff out.

Sorry it took so long to get back. The stuff she uses from GNC is Herpanacine. She took 6 capsules for the first 2 weeks and then went down to 4 and is now at 2. She's been on and off Derma meds and this, in combination with tea tree oil, seems to have made a huge difference.

I have the "bacne" or however you want to spell it and it frustrates me since I am getting married in Dec of 2011 and don't want that showing. So I'm hoping I can get a few ideas from here to help it. I figure at 30/31 I should be passed this!
