Just a quick question: How weird is it for adults without kids to meet characters? I really want to meet my favorite characters but I don't want to seem strange standing in a sea of kids and parents. The only time I've met a character was Rapunzel on my first trip, and I got weird stares from the four other parents and kids that were in line with me. So on my last last trip I didn't meet anyone. It's not bad etiquette for people without kids to meet characters, right? :confused3

I did this on both of my two trips as an adult, and I am definitely doing it on my next trip. I have Anna and Elsa FP+ for just myself (29) and cousin (20)! I even have an autograph book for them to sign.

The characters have never been anything but lovely to me. I've sometimes said something self-deprecating when I walk up to them, such as, "No kids, just a silly adult, sorry!" And they always assure me it's just fine and ask me about my day and where I'm from, etc.

I tend to be easily embarrassed, but I've never noticed any comments or looks from people in the line. Disney manages to distract me enough that I don't pay attention to it, perhaps!

If you want to meet the characters, by all means, meet the characters. You won't be the only adult doing so!

I figured it wasn't THAT bad, I was just really shaken up from that first time! I'll try to do what you do and only pay attention to the magic pixiedust:

Oh please, I've gone on many adult only Disney trips and met the characters/done character meals. Everyone is a kid at heart in Disneyworld. ;) Anyone who finds it odd and stares can go jump in a river.

True story. A few years ago we (me, wife, son, daughter) were in line to meet the Princesses at the Princess M&G when it was on Main Street. There was a twenty-something young man in front of us that we did not realize was by himself until we got to the princesses.

When we got to the princesses and he went up to meet him by himself, I commented to my wife that it was strange. We considered it very weird at first, but then decided he probably lost a bet with some buddies or something.

Several months later, I'm doing some research for our next trip and run across a photo of Josh of EasyWDW fame. Turns out, he was the guy that was in front of us in line. On the trip we met him, we had used his recommendations for the first time and they worked like a charm.

But, at that time, I had never seen his photo of him to realize it was him in front of us. If I would have known it was him, I would have thanked him and not considered it so weird that he was meeting the princesses.

Moral of the story is that it is wrong for us to leap to conclusions. You should be able to see characters with no questions asked.

OMG, I love that! pixiedust:

It's not a weird thing to do at all! I feel like you might get some stares or weird looks from some families, but it's totally acceptable. I've never travelled with kids, and characters are what we spend most of our time doing!!

DFi and I went to Disney in May and met lots of characters, we didn't feel weird and the characters themselves were certainly welcoming. I got my photo with Belle and then she said as DFi stepped in for a picture "Is this your Beast? He's not very furry is he?" (DFi shaves his head lol). Then she made him stand posed with his chest puffed out like Gaston would haha

:thumbsup2 My sentiments exactly I've been visiting the characters sans kids over 25 years now Last Sept 5 I made a big deal for Pluto for his birthday Brought him a Happy Birthday button and had pictures with him wearing my Happy Birthday ears as my BD is Sept 6 th He loved it, character attendant loved it the whole line of waiting people broke into singing to him THIS is what WDW is all about

I don't think it's weird at all. One of my favorite pictures of me of all time is from our 2007 trip. DD was too scared to even look at the characters. But we were walking through HS and came across Sully with no line. I parked DD's stroller facing away from him so she wouldn't freak out and went up to him. When I turned to face the CM taking the picture, Sully wrapped his arms around me in a huge hug. I have this ridiculous grin on my face in the picture.

Go, meet the characters, get your picture taken with them, and don't give a second thought to what anyone else might think!

Bottom line: DO NOT let fear of what others might think ruin this experience for you. This is WDW, the place where dreams come true, and unless your dream is illegal, seriously, go for it.

Meet the characters! And have a blast! I promise that when I see adults only meeting characters I don't think anything is strange. In fact, years ago my best friend took me to DL to celebrate my birthday a couple of days late.

We waited in line to meet Mickey and then realized neither of us had a camera. So we made the best of it - we pretended we were Hollywood agents and tried to get him to leave his current representation and do business with us! Mickey was such a good sport about it and we had a blast.

I asked this a while back on the Adults/Solo board, and have been repeatedly reassured it's OK. It will just be DH and I visiting (our first trip) and I have a few characters on my to do list who I really want to meet, whether other people think I'm weird or not!

There's some really helpful tips over there: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3226748

I will be in line with my daughter waiting to see the characters. If you are also in line, I will not be throwing you any odd looks. Disney lets us all be kids again. Do what you love. Anyone looking at you oddly is missing the point.

Solo adult Disney World Traveler here - 50 years young. I've never noticed weird stares when I meet the characters.

And I love meeting them and posting pictures of it on an album in my FB page. All of my family members except my Mom think I'm nuts but I don't care. My Mom thinks it looks like I'm having too much fun. LOL

I've even managed to get a solo FP for meeting Anna and Elsa on the next family trip. Nobody else in my group cares to meet them so I'll be doing it alone. :thumbsup2

I've met characters without kids before. I've seen just adults meeting characters many times. It's Disney, we're all kids anyway, right!

I have wonderful pictures of my dad at 90+ years old with Mickey, Belle, Cruella and others. Each one took the time to interact with him.

Don't even think twice. I have gone to Disney 3 times now as an adult with no kids and I have gotten an autograph book and met as many characters as possible! I have some amazing pictures and wonderful memories. My favorite was when I met Donald Duck outside of the Animal Kingdom. He was very playful and me and my trip mates were having a blast. Then he signed my book: ":To Shelly, you will always be a princess." The funny part was is that I still to this day have no idea how he knew my name!! It is a great memory. So please, have a blast, meet and play with as many characters as you can. Disney World is the one place we can all be a kid!

Don't worry a thing about it. DH and I don't have any kids and we love meet and greets. I've never even had any mean looks or snide comments from others in line.

I joke that the longest wait we had during our entire trip last year was so my DH could meet Woody in MK. It was worth it though. I told Woody that DH had been wanting to meet him since DH is also a Sheriff's Deputy. Woody was fantastic - he wanted to see his badge and so we got some really fantastic pictures of DH and Woody comparing badges.

I've never had an issue as an adult going to meet the characters, there's always a mix of those with and without kids waiting.

All these posts are making me feel so much better! I love reading everyone's experiences! :goodvibes Maybe it was just bad timing when I met Rapunzel. It was right about when the park was going to close.
