Is it common for adults (with no kids!) to request a ride on the monorail up front with the driver? Or is it something that's generally regarded as a family (i.e. WITH kids) activity?

I always asked, and if a family with kids showed up I tend to let them go ahead of me or just hop in the back and let the kids go for it.

The CMs will not frown on adults riding up front with no kids, though you may have to ask for the copilot license if you really want one...

My son and I rode up front and the other two passengers were adults. They only let four people up there and it is a first ask first serve basis.

Don't we all become kids again when we get to WDW???!!! :teeth:

Seriously, though, I think adults without kids have just as much right to these opportunities as anyone. Have fun!

When I go on solo trips I request the front seat occasionally. I also tell the CM that I will share with 3 others if someone asks.

Dh and I have ridden up front, and we're in our 40s. :)

It was the middle of the day in early December, and there were no kids on that particular monorail trip, so we went for it. :teeth:

Thanks for the replies...I guess I just needed a little reassurance. ;)

We may try to ride up front next time, but I'm sure it'll be awfully busy so it might be smarter to wait till next time.

I usually check to make sure there are no kids within earshot then ask. The CM will then usher you to the "special bench." I felt bad one time when at the last moment another family asked to ride and we were already in the queue. They said they would wait for the next train.

My parents completely freaked when I took them up front. They had no idea it was possible.

If you want to ride in front on the monorail, try getting to TTC first thing Wed a.m when Epcot has EMH. Very few people are there to ride and you will have a very good chance of riding up front. My kids rode up front twice under this scenario as there were no other people interested at 7:30 a.m. :D

My DH & dad & myself rode up from last trip and we had the BEST driver, he let us sit in the driver seat and took our pictures and let us take a photo with him. It was so cool. He asked if we wanted to get a photo sitting in the driver seat and then when I said "really, we can do that?" he said he was just "here to serve". He gave us co-pilot licenses and was so nice.It was my dad's first time. DH & I had done it once before. He told us some neat facts and it was interesting. It's definetly something adults can do without kids.

My DH and I did it on our last trip. It was night itme and we were headed back to the TTC. What a besutiful way to ride! I think it's the only way to ride! I can't wait to go back and take my Dad up front - that will be great!
