Ok,
I am very familiar with the things to do with the kiddos in tow. We are leaving the kids with my parents and the dogs with a friend. My wife and I have the same b-day, Oct 30, with wedding anniversary on Sept 29. I am surprising her with an adults only trip 10/27-10/31 and a flight home on the 31st to participate in trick or treat with the kids. We will be able to take advantage of the "what will you celebrate" promotion which will be kind of cool. This will be the first time in 5 years that we get an AO trip. Not big drinkers but I am kind of a foodie.
We both love the parks but I must confess, outside of the rides I have little expertise on other activities that we are missing out on. I absolutely love SSR but am willing to expand my horizons and it may be a good time to try a different resort, but it will be difficult. I am looking to the power of the boards to give insight on some adult things to do while we are there.
Fire away with suggestions and TIA.

DH and I will be doing the same thing starting Oct. 23 for 6 nights. We are staying at AKV CL and plan on doing F&W for the first time. Eating lots of TS meals at night and sampling F&W during the days. Along with the wine, food, cooking seminars available at EPCOT. Having dinner one night at Cal. Grill and watching the fireworks at MK that night. Thinking about doing some of the sunrise/sunset safrai or backstage tour at AK. We will be celebrating our 23rd Wedding Anniversary.

We are doing adults only in Sept. We are so looking forward to eating at the Signature Restaurants. Narcooses's is where we are celebrating my birthday. My DH loves the Yachstman and California Grill. We are doing massages at SS. You might enjoy one of the tours. We did the Keys at the Kingdom on our last adult trip. We are really looking forward to sleeping past 6 am. Have a great trip.

Since we are empty nesters, we usually do AO trips. We love to make dinner reservations at our favorite WDW places, and just tour from there. We MUST include Jiko, Artist Point, and Turf Club among our reservations at the resorts, and then add Tepan Edo at Epcot. Beyond that, we hit our favorite attractions, and spend a LOT of time at Animal Kingdom.

The other thing that really is fun on an AO trip, is that we can head over to DHS for rope drop so we can do Toy Story Mania before the crowds hit. Our AO days in January went something like this....Do either AK or DHS at rope drop. Play TSMM and maybe get a fast pass and then head out to whatever other park or attraction we want to see. If we do AK first, we head to KS first because DH is not a coaster person. When I want to ride EE, I have to do it alone! Oh, and I forgot to mention Yak and Yetti. It's another new favorite restaurant of ours.

If I were going during F&W with my DH I would spring for either the chef's table at V & A's and/or one of the special tastings or dinners being offered for F&W. We would make a big point of eating our way around the world at those booths. I would also schedule massages at SSR, and sign us up for one of the Segway tours- I did the Epcot one last year, so maybe we'd try the one at FW. And I'd go into all the exhibits we never get to see because the kids (of course!) take over on our trips with them and we end up on mostly rides- not that that's a bad thing!;) And I'd make sure we went to DTD and checked out all the cool shops with all the great memorabilia. And we'd golf. Oh, I can't WAIT to take that trip!! Have a fabulous time!:yay: :yay:

We are doing an AO trip at Vero Beach in October....have absolutely nothing planned! Will get up everyday and figure out what we'll do! Oh, of course the beach and pool will be a must everyday...hmmm maybe even get to that book I keep carrying along everytrip and never get past the second page!!:wizard:

It's funny, on our first trips to WDW we planned and scheduled virtually every step of our vacation. Now the kids are gone and our DVC trips are virtually void of any planning or scheduling. We just take it one day at a time and take it easy.

That's a result of owning DVC. We only plan our trips out now when we have guests along who don't go often.

Well, my birthday is Oct 30 too, so I like you already. My wife and I have always tried to sneak away for kidless weekends and they're great. We rarely go to a park unless it's to eat. We always get a one bedroom and I'd highly recommend a bottle of champagne, some candles and the jacuzzi.

Oh and you could go to Jellyrolls on the Boardwalk for a late night of cover tunes and adult beverages. Also, Raglan Road at DTD offers a fun pub atmosphere with an Irish-style band. Enjoy the sitting around that you don't get to do with kids in tow.

Dh and I had an AO trip in Sept. It was awesome. We went to the pool and relaxed without worrying about watching the kids. We hit all four parks in one day. And best of all, when we saw someone else's kid having a meltdown, we looked at each other and said, "it isn't our problem".

Have fun.

This March will be the 4th time DH and I are scheduled to meet some other Disboarders for a fireworks cruise. Each event has been great, and something we wouldn't be doing on our own, at least not until our DGC get a little older. We've met the Disboarders on the Theme Park forum by checking out the "joining cruise" threads.

Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. Does Bob Jackson's show get a bit more adult oriented after 10PM? We've never been able to stay up later than that:rotfl: but I heard that if you go after his break it's different.

We had an AO trip for our anniversary and for Marathon Weekend. They were GREAT! As already stated, eat at a signature restaurant or two (just love Jiko!!!!). As for a resort, go for one of the lodges and as posted earlier, a one bedroom with the big tub is nice! For some night-time fun (outside of your villa), you might want to go see yee-ha Bob at Port Orleans Riverside. Great show!!!!!

Love the ideas!! Please keep them coming. I don’t want to “plan” too much, but I do want to have some new and fun ideas. I am “cherry picking” and making notes so thanks for the replies. This will be a total surprise. I am actually trying to figure out how to get her packed and to the airport w/o her knowing we are going. It will take some doing but I may be able to pull it off. We are members of Owners Locker which will make it easier to pull off since most of the stuff we will need is down there. I am thinking carry on for clothes. John, I appreciate the offer of the private jet since we have the same B-day, but we will fly coach instead!!!

I’ve been in the beginning of Oct, but am not really sure what to expect for weather at the end of Oct.

I think a rope drop one day is a great idea, and since DHS is the one park we didn’t go to in Sept, that may be the one. TSMM is a must do for this trip.
We really enjoy walking around at SSR, OKW and DTD so I figure a couple of nice walks are definitely in order. Never really walked around many of the other resorts, so if POR is a good one, I’ll check it out.
During family vaca’s, sometimes I sneak out at night and have a cigar and a walk around the golf course. Sosa in DTD is a must do too!! Cigars are a big vacation treat for me. I know, yuck-what can I say.
Trying to figure where we will “celebrate” our b-day and I think if we choose the tix, maybe EPCOT for some real exploring. Never been to F&W fest and don’t really know all that much about it.
I have checked out the menus for Tepan, V&A, Narcooses’s, and CA Grill-they all look like winners. Maybe all four if I can swing ressies. The Chef’s Table would be great, especially since I ran restaurants and worked fine dining. IS it worth it if you can get the ressie?
As for a one bedroom, I like the idea, but I am a point stingy sob. Maybe I’ll xfer in the difference and not feel so bad.

My wife loved Citrico's. It has a great vibe for a romantic dinner, and the food was spectacular. The lighting, the service, the food . . . it was all just right. Report back after your trip! We'd love to hear what you ended up doing.

I'm not sure if Bob Jackson's show is more grown-up after the break. I couldn't convince my wife to stay that long, mudslides and all. I like the cheesy stuff a little more than she does. If anyone has an answer, pass it along.

Where is Citricos? In GF Hotel?

Wow - what a great surprise for your wife! However, when you are packing for her, maybe you could get some help from one of her girlfriends? Or be super observant of her habits leading up to it. I know if my husband packed for me, I'd be SO worried about what he'd put in my suitcase. And don't forget favorite make-up and skin creams, etc. (I'm sure you've already thought about that stuff, but as a very picky woman when it comes to my stuff, I just had to put it out there!):rotfl2:

All of our trips are AO trips, since we don't have any kids. On our last trip, we did the Segway tour around Epcot and LOVED it! I highly recommend it. This coming trip, we'll be doing the Sunset Safari at AKV. We are so looking forward to it!!! Especially since it includes the dinner at Jiko.

We also love to take our time walking around World Showcase - looking at a lot of the details and such. I know you said you weren't big drinkers, but the counter near France with the Grand Marnier and Grey Goose slushies was a popular stop for us on our last trip.

We also love to take our time with the walk through safaris in AK. And I learned last trip that you can see some of the animals' vet visits in AK in the mornings. You have to take that train (Rafiki's something-or-other; sorry can't remember!) So I want to check that out on our next trip too!

Good luck and happy planning!

My fiancee and I did an AO last November. We played alot of golf and only did one park during our 8 day stay at BWV. I had purchased surprise tics for Cirque de Soliel for his birthday and that was a fabulous show. We also wandered Disney's West side most evenings and would hit Raglan Road for great live music. We also bought tics for a House of Blues show. HOB also had a small jazz combo most nites at their outside bar. Jellyrolls was also alot of fun at the Boardwalk. Have to admit we're not Bob Jackson fans over at POR. Too frenetic!
During non golf days, we rented bikes at Fort Wilderness, lazed by the pool and hit the Premium Outlet Mall.
Have fun!
