For our upcoming Norway cruise we were looking into doing the Alesund Highlights adults only. It was $55 when I was looking at it. Flash to the date that platinum members can book and its all of a sudden $204!!!!! The regular excursion is $58. Why would the same thing be 4 times the price? Disney was called and they stated that it is that price because the adults only does more. But it doesn't... We booked adults only for all our excursions on the Med cruise and they do the same thing. So what is going on here?

No clue about the pricing, but I wanted to chime in and say that you can easily do all those things on that excursion on your own without booking any tour. That will let you tour with your own schedule. We were planning to do that before we decided to do the Path of the Trolls (where btw the adult only excursion still has the same price as the general one). Path of the Trolls was amazing and I can absolutely recommend it.

I think the pricing is just a typo. Send an email to DCL and ask them about it.

We have done the adults only version of a lot of excursions. There has never been a price difference. The excursions are exactly the same just that you don't have families with kids on the adult only. Don't think the res agent you spoke to knew what they were talking about.

Yes, I agree with @clten that the person you spoke to most likely made something up on the spot. If you send an email, they might be less likely to just make up an answer (since it would be in writing).

The one that include lunch?@Flossbolna

Except for when you arrive at the "touring location" - all of those other tours are there at the same time with "all of those kids" :lmao: The Adults only tours are quieter during the transfer from the ship to the location to be toured.

I just wanted to comment on this because we were on a family tour in Naples that went to Capri and there was also an adult tour that did similar things. Everyone takes the jetfoil over- it's a big boat that seats hundreds of people and you're on it with anyone in the city headed to Capri. We had two ladies that sat behind us and complained the whole time that there were kids onboard (it's like taking a public subway or bus). Then we happen to be in line next to them coming down from the mountain on the cable car, listening to them complain again about kids. You are packed into line with hundreds of people from other cruises, locals, day tourists.

I wanted to turn around and say "no Disney does not shut down the entire island of Capri for adult tours. You will still see and hear children when you are in public".

@gotomu212 - I hear you!! I was not trying to sound Anti Kid!! Most of our DCL cruise have been adults only.

And as far as the complainers go... they will complain ... go figure :scratchin One of my favorite complaints heard on DCL was after we returned to the ship in Cartagena Columbia. We LOVED our walking tour of the old town area, but LOTS of people we complaining to Disney about all of the street vendors. As if they can do anything about it :lmao:

Another Complaint from a different cruise: We were on a Walking Tour of a couple of different locations. We took the bus from the port to the gates of the first city, got off and walked to where we were touring (church) and a little through the old town, then back to the bus. People were complaining about the WALKING and wanted to know why the bus didn't drop us off at the doorstep of the church (did you see ANY other cars around - :sad2:, Nope, didn't think so). Same thing at the next stop. Some folks have a reading and comprehension deficiency!

Thanks! I didn't know that was something that you can do all on your own. We will have to look into the Path of the Trolls one!

We are going to look into that one thanks!

We took the one without lunch. Which turned out a bit of a hassle because finding lunch was not easy due to events on our excursion.

However, you are allowed to take good off the ship in Norway, so you can just pack your own lunch.

I see that price discrepancy in the port adventures section of the website. That really looks like an error. I suspect it may be a "small group" option pricing that got mixed up with the adult only listing. I don't know where to direct the inquiry landslide, though, to fix the error.

On a cruise we took last year the pricing for the adult only was about twice the price for the family excursion. I called DCL and it was a typo. It was fixed later that day.

Thanks, I don't want to spend and hour on lunch, I rather explore and take pictures.

One person in our cruise group called Disney and they said it's because the adult group do more things. I think she have to call again and talk to a different person.

That was exactly our thinking! Just be prepared, that the break when you can buy some lunch is rather late in the excursion. So, it is better to come prepared and bring at least some snacks. We actually had a long talk to the Port Adventures manager after our excursion, suggesting that this did not really work out well. So, they might have changed things, but I would not count on it.

Thank you so much!!!

We called Disney again and the woman we spoke to talked to her supervisor about it and they changed the price to the same as the regular excursion. Butttt we just booked out excursions this morning and we decided to go with the Path of the Trolls, with the lunch included. After all of your recommendations, and even finding a video on youtube, we decided that one looks awesome. Hopefully lunch is good though because its quite a bit more for the lunch.
