I see a post semi-regularly from adults asking about attending a character meal without any kids, so I thought I'd give a quick report on our Garden Grill dinner last night. In the past when we go to a character meal, we bring a camera so the characters know we want photos and are always right there to give us a chance to get some good shots. Last night the dinner was spontaneous...we were doing a Soarin' marathon so Garden Grill was convenient, and they were able to get us in as a walk-up.

Since we had no camera, I wondered how the interaction would be. They definitely seem to play off your attitude. We like to interact, so when they came over we started little conversations and really had a lot of fun. I was wearing my monorail hat and Pluto even stole it and put it on! Thankfully hubby has a cell phone camera so he was able to grab a quick shot.

I imagine that if you didn't want interaction they would sense that and pass by quickly, but if you're "big kids" without young un's, don't worry...you won't be left out.

That's good to know! Thanks for sharing your experience.

Probably not your most interesting dining experience though ;) :rotfl:

No, it's been pretty darned boring lately! I miss Cell Phone Lady and the Citricos Floorshow. :rotfl:

I miss them too, they made for great entertainment. :)

This isn't quite as amusing, but here's the cell phone pic. hubby took of Pluto wearing my monorail hat. I swear I don't really look that bad! He had no flash so he had to take it in "night vision" mode:

Mmmm I love Garden Grill's food. So fresh and flavorful. Unfortunately the sevice was terrible last few times we went so I haven't been back in forever. But I love the vegetable choices they always had when we were there.

Glad to hear you don't have to have kids with you to get attention from the characters.

Very good to hear, thank you. I've always wanted to talk with some of the face characters ( keeping in character, of course), but have been concerned they might think I was just a bit odd... :upsidedow

Yay, now that my family is all older, my sis being 15 now, we have found that maybe we do not get the same interaction as before. Good to know there is a place that still does!! Hey we do not have to look like super models at Disney, I know for sure I do not!

DH and i have done all the character meals before, and always received attention - but it seemed the more you "interact" the more they will, too - once we basically "waved" off the princesses at CRT - DH was ravenous, and didn't feel like posing in between his eggs and potatoes! (which was ok with me - more time for other little girls there with the princesses!)

we just returned last week from our fall Disney trip and we had hubbies birthday meal at Crystal Palace.....we had a great time and the characters were fun to be with.....they played around with us as if we were the kiddos........We love the buffet at Crystal Palace so we try to include it in our trip with or without the kiddos.
