Adults getting character autographs?

So my trip is in 2 days! I'm getting very nervous, but I'm also incredibly excited. My last trip to WDW was when I was 16 years old. I spend a lot of time getting autographs from the characters, and it was the best souvenir I had. But now I'm 28, and I'm wondering if being a single, childless adult getting autographs will seem odd? I'm thinking not, because after all, it is Disney, where everyone is a kid at heart! But I'm afraid of other adults (especially parents) not being too pleased with me, especially if I'm taking character time away from kids. Thoughts? Opinions?

I personally don't get autographs, but my friend (who's just a little older than you) gets them all the time. Adults tend to go a little faster and hurry things along when it comes to pictures and autographs, kids like to visit and take extra time. I've never seen or heard any push back from anyone in line when she gets autographs. I say go ahead :thumbsup2

well, you will get some looks thats for sure. but, keep in mind, you'll be asking another adult in costume for an autograph - i'd suggest just getting your picture, as it will be far more enjoyable to look at than a fake signature.

i'm sure you'd enjoy the photos more than the signatures, but even if you do get signatures...who cares what people think, especially me - what do I know? :)

I say go for it. :thumbsup2 I did a solo trip in August 2009. I didn't get authographs but I took pictures with all my favorite characters. Every time I went to have my picture taken, the CM with the character would remind me that the characters also signed autographs. I never thought about getting the characters authographs b/c I had done that on a prior trip.

Go for it. There are three of us adult girls going two older then you and we will be lining up and getting photos and autographs. We will also buy the autograph books now we know that the characters sign as well.. It just make a great memento of your time. and something for me to show the grandson. In Hong Kong Disneyland there were more adults then children at the park when we went but everyone just quietly lined up took pics and had a great time. Looking forward to my trip to Disneyland in Jan. Have a great time.. Sorry off topic how much does it cost for photos of you taken with the characters. thanks

Check out Disney's Photopass. The character handlers and photopass photogs will always take your picture w/ your own camera too.

I know w/ my friend the point of her getting the signature is to scrapbook it w/ the picture.... so for her the signature goes hand in hand w/ the photo. AND it only takes a few seconds to get the signature since you are already lined up to meet the character to get your picture taken.

You won't be the only adult getting signatures.

Last August, I got an autograph for my daughter while she was in the restroom. My husband even took a picture of the incident. The characters even offer to hug you.

My husband & I love collecting signatures and we are in our mid 30's. We like to look for rare characters. I have a scrapbook that is only signatures and photos with characters. I do not care what others think. DISNEY makes me feel like a kid again!:thumbsup2

Go for it. :thumbsup2 You paid the price to be there just like everyone else. So what if you are an adult. When I'm at WDW I'm just a big kid trapped in this 45 year old body. ENJOY YOURSLEF.

We collected autographs for the first time on our last trip because I knew I wanted to make a scrapbook. It was fun and a challange-we got 80 in 8 days. We weren't ones for meeting characters in the past, but it really added something to the trip, and the pictures were so funny. Meeting the fairies was the only time I got flustered, I wasn't prepared to banter with them, the were chatty! Made some great memories, but we did have to wait in some longer lines and forgoe a few rides.

DH and I (no kids) stood in line to collect autographs and get photos. No problems at all and quite enjoyable. We are in our 30's.

Absolutely go for it. I have two autograph books filled out now from a 2007 and a 2009 trip and I did not have any kids at the time. I admit, I did feel a little weird standing in line (and being just as excited as the kids!!) but you know what? I never got to go when I was a kid, so I wasn't going to let the weirdness stop me from making my dreams come true. I even cried when I met Mickey Mouse, lol.

Besides, when are you ever going to see those people again????

Enjoy you visit!!!!!

Go for it....my DH and I(no kids) are almost 50 and we collect autographs and photos from the characters every trip.

I started by helping my DS get autographs when he was little., he is now a teen but
still gets autograph when we spot rare ones.
I got hooked and love spotting new Characters. We've filled up
at least 3 autograph books. I'm in my mid 40s. The characters don't
mind if you're an adult but are a kid at heart. A couple of years ago I
got one of my favorites "Capt. Jake Sparrow" pirate:he is hot. Got my Picture taken with him too.

What about adults getting their Epcot Passport stamped and signed? I've been dreaming of WDW since I was about 6, but we have never been able to afford it as a child and we are going soon and I really want an Epcot Passport, I am 26 by the way... :-) Big Kid at heart!

I love meeting the characters (and getting autographs)

after many adults only trips (we are empty nesters) I am starting to feel like I really want some pics with the charcters, too.
we do fantasy land, and ride winnie the pooh, ,etc. (have even ridden dumbo once!). we stake out spots for the parades and illuminations. (I let little kids in front of me, but not the parents!)
but I just couldn't see myself having my pic taken with minnie, and a few kids behind me "cut off". (today, at ALdis, I kept letting so many people with a few items in front of me, I would have been there all day if I didn't finally "take my turn"!:rotfl:)
maybe I'll just break down and do a character breakfast sometime.(I did have my pic taken with capt. jack once! drool)
