Hi, we will be going to one of MNSSHP. What percentage of adults roughly would you say dress up for this and how elaborate do people go?
Thinking of dressing up as Minnie. Kids will definatly be dressed up.

When I went last year with my wife and daughter they were both dressed up, DW went as Minnie. The whole fancy dress thing is really not for me so I never bothered. To be honest, I felt quite out of place and actually a bit of a party pooper.:lmao:

It really was a good laugh and if I went again I would just take the plunge and get dressed up. Being in my normal clothes I was definitely in the minority. DW and DD constantly calling me a a kill-joy did not help me feel any better either.

We've done 7 parties and I am not a dressing up fan for myself, but last year DD and I went dressed up as a 'pair' and it was lots of fun. The photos were great too. I'd say most adults at least have something in the line of dressing up, ranging from a simple Halloween T Shirt to some very elaborate costumes. Whatever you are comfortable with is fine. Either way, you won't feel 'out'

Hi, we went a few years back I was Alice in Wonderland and DH was Harry Potter. Weird combo but someone wouldn't go as Mad Hatter. Loved it. Most people were in costume lots of Pirates easy bandana option and less to pack. Just remember it can be humid still in October our day was wet and stinky heat so think your costume through.

Good point about the heat! We melted in our costumes one night and I thought we'd chosen according to the heat. The third party we went to last trip it rained and that's another word of caution .... I had color hair spray in my hair (I say no more!)

Also take heed of luggage allowances. Elaborate costumes are generally heavy and if you have to add special make up and accessories you can use a fair portion of your luggage allowance out there and it impacts on your ability to bring back tons of candy when you come home :lmao:

Whatever you decide, it's a blast and money well spent!! :thumbsup2

i was at two parties last year and saw lots of adults in costumes, especially the adults without kids...they have THE most elaborate costumers...fantastic!!!

the adults in costume made the party a lot more fun and i had the impression that the cast members gave out a lot more candy to the dressed up adults!!

Aw thank you :goodvibes So gutted to miss the parties this year. We've been every year since 2010 so all you folk going then have to have double fun to make up for us missing out :wizard:

What was your "pair" costume?
Cannot wait, it's my DS and nephews birthday that day too so will be fantastic!
There are 8 adults and 7 children in our party x

We went to one of last years parties. I also wanted to dress up but I was also conscious of the fact that my boys wouldn't want to go "over the top" so the result can be seen in the right hand sig pic below :goodvibes

Oh I thought your costumes were genius!!! They look so cool and the coloring made for fab after dark photos with the party lighting and illuminated buildings. And you were more sensible in terms of being heat aware, lol. :thumbsup2

Definitely dress up - it makes it so much more fun!

Wow, Juliette that looks super spooky with the Disney border you picked for that photo. Awesome!!!

TheMinx08, I must have typed over or deleted the rest of my post when I replied to you!

If you're feeling bold you could have the kids as the 7 Dwarves, and then get characters from the rest of the story for the adults to dress as - Snow White, the evil queen, the witch, the prince, the huntsman ...... You could have a blast with such a big group!

DFi and I went as Buzz Lightyear and Woody... and we just had tshirts. We had great interactions with both characters (we had planned to meet them!). These tshirts cost us $40 for both, from Amazon, they were simple and light enough to wear in mid-October, and easy to pack in suitcase.

We just wore hallo weeny t-shirts/hats/flashing jewellery. :)

Next time we're going to go something properly themed (yet cool to wear! Nothing hot or thick!)

We saw people in full on Star Wars costumes. Must've been soooo hot. In fact I saw earth vader and a storm trooper at the end of the night with their helmets under their arms and they were not looking comfy!

me and DH have been once, and was a bit worried about being the only ones dressed up, how wrong we were. So DH bought a Pirates of the Carribbean tshirt and wore bandana, eye patch and a bit of eye make up and I bought an orange halloween tshirt from walmart with sparkly mini mouse ears so we did dress up a bit - next time we will do a full dress up outfit. So go for it, but yes it will mostly be a warm night, have fun :goodvibes

Done numerous party nights, great fun but twice the fun if you dress up, the CM and characters interact with you far more, even if its something simple. One year I just had a spider on my head, amazing how many comments I got, plus we were picked to go round on the onibus pre-parade to wave to the crowds.
