Adults can't use the water slides?!

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT???? Why???? I just read this (haven't cruised with DCL yet). What is the reason for this? If your kid is a scaredy cat that won't try anything without a gentle "nudge," can you go down it with them a few times until they are comfortable?

The slides are designated only for children and no CM will allow you to ride down the slide with your child. I think if they allowed any parents to ride the slide even it was for a good reason, that the restrictions they have in place would be hard to enforce.

We took our GK's on other water slides before the cruise to alleviate their fears. Just a suggestion if you have time to do this at WDW.

From the DCL website.

The Slide at Mickey's Pool: Children must be 4-12 years old and no greater than 64 inches in height to use the slide at Mickey's Pool.

Just my thoughts....

You just wait until you catch a kid in one of the adult areas, and they issue you a pass to go down the kiddie slide.

Just kidding...no adults are allowed (actually it's a height restriction rather than only age).

Well, I AM 64" exactly (well, 63 and 3/4, but lets not get technical). Still out of luck, eh? Why is the beginning age four and can I bend that? My dd will be 3 (two months shy of four) and she is the fearless daredevil. I am sure that if she went a few times that would encourage by timid 5 yo ds. Do they check the kids' ages? Can I sneak her on?

On the Wonder they were enforcing a minimum height -- not a minimum age. So my 3 year old was able to go down the slide. I think it was 36". This was over Thanksgiving.

Thanks, Scott. That is helpful to know. She is only 32" now (she is a peanut), so I hope she grows four inches in the next 17 months!

What I saw on the Magic was what the previous poster saw on the Wonder, the CM's were enforcing minimum and maximum heights, along with the no adults allowed. I also believe that the minimum height was 36 inches as the deepest part of the pool is 24 inches deep but am not as sure of that fact as it is not posted. I am just guessing based on my observations of the kids going down the slide.

It is not as scary a water slide as some of the rides at water theme parks. My DD was 5 last year and she came down no problem, all by herself. There were many younger kids as well. It is very shallow at the bottom. I think the fact that it comes out at the Mickey Pool also helps the kids to realize that the slide is for littler kids...

The slide doesn't even come out IN the pool, so the maximum depth of the Mickey Pool isn't a factor. The slide ends in a little chute that runs parallel to one side of the pool, so the kids slow down and end up in about 3" of water, where they stand up and step out. They can step out without getting into the Mickey Pool, too.

My DD first went on when she was about 3 1/2 (a tall 3 1/2 year old, though). She was skittish at first, but after watching the other children for a couple of hours and how they "landed", she was up for a try. We walked up the stairs with her, but then she waved good-bye and that was the end of the hesitation!

Here is a You Tube video to help you visualize the slide:

Plus, here is a picture of the slide:

What they *will* let you do is have one adult walk the child up to the top and the other one stand down at the bottom...
But that's as far as it goes.

My DD (pushing 5) went up and opted to come right back down... by the stairs.

I so want an adult slide!!!

The age is actually 4 - 14. They won't let anyone with a swim diaper go down but if your child is younger they will do a little "swim test". If the child is okay then they can go. My niece was fine at 2 1/2. My daughter was older before she would do the slide. What worked with her to get her to try it was peer pressure. Once she went down once that's all she wanted to do. If you can go to the cruise meets part of the board and see what other children are sailing with you. Not only is that great for the kid's club but if all the friends they make on the cruise are in line and having fun on the slide and not scared it helps a lot.

The pool is only about 18 inches deep in the main circle. :) Not bad at all for the kids. It is too shallow to do much real swimming...and usually too crowded as well.

From personal experience I know your wrong LOL!!!! When I was on the cruise and my much taller siblings were laughing at me due to height restrictions. (They are 5' 11' and 6' 1" and Im' 5' 1") They even have a picture of me pointing to the sign. I laughed at them and said "Ha Ha, I can go on"....as a lifeguard walked by and said, "No you can't, your too old!!!!"
