I want to get just the front of my hair braided(crown only) and have the rest loose in the back. My DH thinks I'm too old for it at 39. I just think it would be easier not to have to mess with my hair for the trip!!

Any opinions on this?(Be honest, you won't hurt my feelings!)

Also, does anyone know how hard it is to get the hair braiding appointments for the first couple of days on the ship?? I know that concierge gets priority here and I don't know how fast these appointments book.

Thanks,

Joanne

I say go for it! I'm 39 and I got my hairbraided on CC. No appointment, just walked right up. They did a great job. My 2 DD's got thier hair braided in Nassau, and even though it looked good, CC did a better job. I kept mine in for 3 weeks and it still looked good. I don't know if you can tell, but my hair was braided in my sig picture. As far as appointments on the ship, from what I have heard, they book up. So I would make an appointment asap once onboard.

I think by the time we hit 39 (I am also 39 and holding!) we should be able to do what we want! I say go for it! You have probably worked hard for this vacation so enjoy! I grew up south of Boston in Canton, are you any where near there?

Hi...I am 37 and had my hair braided in St Maarten when I went on the eastern. I only had the front done as well and absolutely loved it. It was my first time ever getting it done and when I go back in January....I plan to get it done again. Only thing I didnt care for was getting my formal or semi formal (cant remember) pictures with it braided. I wished my hair was regular for that. Other than that, I felt like Bo Derek lmaoooooo...just kidding...but I did love it. Go for it and enjoy it!!!!

If i remember right....at least an hour or more...cant quite remember but it did hurt me like crazy. My head is a bit sensitive. Oh and by the way.....if your smart you will put suntan lotion on your head after its done. I didnt do it and omg was my head burnt and itchy....then peeling.

Thanks for all of the replies!!

wdwmom2~Your hair looks great in your picture!

Tyna~Too weird......I grew up in Canton, too! Did you go to CHS? What year did you graduate??

DW at 32 did it. She loved not having to deal with it. Just remember sunscreen on the scalp.

Go for it! It's your cruise, you should do what you want! I always braid my own hair (which is halfway down my back) into lots of tiny braids beaded at the ends (not cornrows, just braids) whenever we are camping, because it really does help me stay cooler and keeps it out of the way. At scout camp, I always get little kids saying "wow, I wish I had that many beads!" (they get beads as a reward system for good behavior!).

We had my DD's done on our Western in 02. They had only been doing it on the ship for a couple of months then. We booked her appointment for the first sea day in the afternoon, and we weren't the first people in line. Now that it's more widely known, it might fill up quicker, but I'd say you should be able to get it done in the first half of the cruise with no problem at all.

hi

i too am 39 and will get my hair braided but i will have it done by a friend before i leave for the cruise (much cheaper)

doesn't matter your age, have a great time & enjoy the carefree feeling of not having to "do" your hair

wdwmom2, your hair looks very pretty in your formal pic!

I'm 36 and had it done on our cruise in Sept. My dd, 7, my sister, 38 and mom, 60+ also had theirs done. The ship booked very quickly and we weren't able to make an appt. We had ours done on Antigua. Which was cheaper than on the ship. I took my hair out last week and we took our dd's out on sunday. I didn't think it hurt much at all, but my mom was in alot of pain so I guess it's whoever's doing the braiding. We all had ours done in the front like a headband with beads. Next time we're going to have them braid to the ends because the beads hurt much more than the braiding did! ::yes::
