Did anyone else besides my neighborhood get adult trick-or-treaters? We had one group of a mom and grandma come to the door in costume along with two children about 7 years old. I gave the children their candy and then the two women held out their bags. I gave them the same thing I gave the children and wished them a Happy Halloween, but never had that happen before. We also had a father in costume come with 3 children, various ages, and did the same thing. Is this a new trend?

That is a little odd. I probably would have done the same as you but, weird. We had a few parents that were dressed up but they stood by the road while the kids came to the door.

I get alot of that!!!!!! Or the ones that their baby his home sick or the baby is not even old enough to have candy. But last night I had a new one. I have a lot of steps to my front door.Well a women in her late 70's on a walker. No child with her and saying trick or treat.

Oh, that is rude. BUT then I think anyone over 12 shouldn't.:confused3

DH andf I dressed up with DS, but we weren't collecting any candy. We did have one lovely older woman try to insist on giving us some, but we declined. It was really sweet of her, though.

We never got any adults. It was funny though, when I was out with the kids there were 2 houses and insisted on giving me a treat for walking with my kids in the cold lol.

Yeah, I concur... I don't think it's right for the adults to Trick or Treat... don't they just eat the kid's candy anyway? We sure do.

I dumped all the kids candy into one of my [ahem...] larger reusable bags and realized just how much they got (we only went 3 places trunk or treating...). One of the local dentist offices will buy candy back from the kids and they ship what they can to the troops overseas.

Maybe they were attempting to take advantage of a similar situation?

We do get parents that dress up and accompany their children. That just adds to the fun, but I never had parents actually trick-or-treating with their kids before.
Each of them let their children get the candy first, then the adults held out their pillowcases for their treats. :confused3

I can't decide if this is really sad (like she needed the candy to have food in the house) or hysterical because she is out having a good time.

We had a mom coming around with her young child. He picked out one piece of candy and then turned to leave.. his mom said "Honey, get a piece or two for mommy!", so he reached back into our bowl and took two more pieces which he dropped into his mom's container.

I was surprised but didn't really care. We had too much candy anyways. I was just shocked she said "Get some for mommy!"..

I gave her candy and told her to be careful walking. It could have been either one of those. But it was a 1st for us.

We also get adults that use that excuse.. "Can I also have some for my child who fell asleep or couldn't come". I give them candy as well. Last night though, I had one older boy, probably 17 or 18 yrs old that gave me a bit of a scare. I opened the front door and he literally walked into my entry way instead of waiting by the front door as everyone else. As soon as I gave him his candy he walked out.:confused3

That would have scared me too.You never know.

I'm sure it's because I don't have kids, but I see NOTHING wrong with adults trick-or-treating with or without kids. It's a fun holiday and I think it's great fun for everyone.

Just thinking if everyone did that, no one would be home to hand out the treats.

We went with our kids, most of the places we went the people wouild give candy to the kids and then say you better take some to mom and dad. I thought it was sweet gesture, I would take a basket and hold it out

Naturally. But, for example, DH and I live out in a very rural part of town. in over 7 years here, we have not had a single trick or treater. I don't expect them to come to us...poor kid would have to be driven. So in theory, that WOULD free DH and I up to go into town to go T-o-T'ing. In fact, we went out to dinner last night with my MIL and as we drove through town there was a HUGE T-o_ting street party going on. Kids, adults...everyone.

And what about the adults who go out to parties? Obviously they aren't home to hand out candy. My sister and her DH leave a bowl of candy out front for the kids to self serve. So I guess the same could be done for adults out t-ot-ing.

But in all honesty, I don't think EVERYONE would ever go trick-or-treating (at least, not at the same time), but I have no problem with the ones who do.

We get a kick out of the parents that dress up and, if they request it, they'll get candy. If they react to the props along the way w/screams and other amusing antics, we'll offer them candy as a reward. As for the parents doing the ToTing for the ones too small to eat candy, we give the parents the candy, because they're at least getting the little ones involved in the traditions early.

Over the years we've had many adults who dress up along with their children but never held out a bag to collect candy. Until last night. She was probably in her late 40's, early 50's. We all kind of shrugged our shoulders and handed her some candy. Didn't mind at all. Who am I to say that's it's wrong for someone to have a good time. She seemed to be having a blast (she didn't seem to be with anyone either, just by herself)

But I do have to say that we did get a "first" last night. We had two adults probably in their 30's or so. They were walking their dog (golden retreiver?) who was dressed up as a pumpkin. And he had a plastic halloween bucket in his mouth. He walked right up to us in the garage, but the bucket down as if saying "trick or treat" and once the candy went in the bucket, he picked it back up and off he went. This was THE funniest thing we saw. Hilarious!!!

We had a ball last night. Halloween is one of our favorite holidays. We decorate our garage, have the spooky music playing, the dry ice fog machine going and most of us all dressed up (we like to scare the people who come to our house LOL)***and no, we don't scare the little, little ones. But if you look to be about 10 & over....We'll gettcha. But mostly we like to scare the bejeezus out of the adults. I usually sit inside the garage on the side (usually out of sight) and once someone comes up the driveway & into the garage to get their candy, they turn around to leave and I blast them with a shot of air from the air compression hose. OMG, it's the best. LOL

Okay, I love this! :rotfl2:

He would have come to the right house at my house. I would have run back in and gotten him one of our big chew bones for his pumpkin (a new one, of course!). :thumbsup2
