Adult Tinkerbell bathingsuit?

At first I thought the same thing.. An Adult Tink suit???HUH??, then, I thought But wait.. YOU, Yourself have a very nice, Mickey Mouse suit that is very well done, even for a Pooh sized woman. So, I am correcting myself, and I have no right to be so judgmental. Anyway, I think I saw some at the Walmart in Orlando in January, not sure about now. Good Luck on your Quest, you may have better luck with a Tink beach towel?:goodvibes

OP, I would not look too hard for that suit unles your friend is overweight. The style is really more suited to a plus-sized lady. I'd be insulted if one of my friends got me a fat lady bathing suit as a gift.

I think it's a nice idea, but I wouldn't be comfortable buying a bathing suit for another woman. I know I have to try on quite a few before I buy one for myself.

I honestly didn't mean this to spark the response it did from another poster, I just honestly feel the suit in the photo (while modeled by a teen) is a style that overweight women wear (the totally covered torso, the skirt) and I would not buy a suit int hat style for anyone who does not consider herself overweight.

That's the kind of suit my SIL wears and she is the opposite of plus sized. She wears a size 0, literally.

Now I wouldn't go and say that suit is sexy, but it is fun. Shes going to be in Disney for crying out loud... OF COURSE a Disney swim suit will be okay!

Also another option OP, Hot Topic sells Tink patches (maybe a craft store might too; michaels, ac moore?) . You could buy a nice bathing suit and sew a Tink on it. The patches are iron on but I don't know how well they would stay in in chlorine without being sewn. I wanted a Tink hat/glove set when I went a few years ago but everything we too childish so I bought a nice plain set and ironed on a pretty Tink. Several people in the parks asked me where I got the set :)

Good luck finding a set and don't let negative people ruin your day :goodvibes

I wouldn't get her a bathing suit personally, if only because its hard to get one that she'll look/feel good in. I know I personally wouldnt like to give or recieve stuff like a bathing suit

I wouldnt be a big fan on adults wearing character suimsuits or whatever. I guess it is disney, but couldn't she just wear her own suimsuit?
:confused3

Thanks for the tips (esp the PP who posted about the patches. I am going to check our local craft stores).

To those who have questioned whether it is apprropriate for an adult to wear a tink bathingsuit. it's not for me to decide. Said friend has a few older tink bathingsuits and that is what i have seen her wear. I know she would love another, which is why we are trying to find her another one.

FYI, when I looked on disneyshopping, the suit that is similar that they have for sale right now is a THREE piece. There's the cover-up suit, but there's also a normal bottom to it.

Skirted suits started off as something that women wanted to wear to cover things (most people look better just wearing a well cut suit IMO, instead of putting flounces just where nothing should flounce...just like sleeves on wedding gowns to cover arms a person feels are too big...the sleeves just enhance the arms when generally a strapless would have been more flattering!). But now, with the continuation of athletic wear including skirts, which originally were only for tennis, they actually make some cute, non-flouncy skirts (like the one in the pictures and on disneyshopping the other day). Flattering, not puffy, nice.

Disney shopping does sell Tinker Bell suits once in awhile, I have the one pictured from last year, as well as the Eeyore one another poster mentioned. I like them both, especially since the skirt piece is removable, and I just wear that instead of a coverup usually.

And as far as the posters saying that Disney suits are for children or fat people only, I think you're being very rude. If Disney suits were for children only, they wouldn't be made in adult sizes, and if they were made for fat people only, they wouldn't be made in small sizes.

If you don't want to wear them fine, but don't tell others what they should or should not be wearing. We are all capable of making our own decisions without being bullied.

And F.Y.I. my Tink suit is my favorite suit I own.

Wow! That is the exact style that about 80% of the women at my neighborhood pool wear!

Skirted bottoms and tankinis are in!

I like them because they have more coverage, and like I said in my PP, with them I really don't need a coverup. I think it's a great style, because I don't feel very comfortable in a bikini, and it's hard to find a one piece that fits well.

I had to post, this has to be a joke right? Someone is doing something really nice for a friend and she is getting negative comments. I guess it comes back to if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything.

I also want to know who says you HAVE to be sexy at the pools in Disney? Frankly I prefer people be dressed like this over some of what I have seen at public pools, especially when there are so many kids around. Don't get me wrong, lots of us like to look sexy, but I don't see where having to be sexy at the pool in Disney World.

OP, that suit looks really cute, I'd wear it (then again I wear lots of Disney stuff and my house is all Disney from the bathroom to the plates in my kitchen and pretty much everywehre in between.) and I bet your friend will love it! She is lucky to have such a nice friend and hubby!!!

Sorry, I just don't see too many people other than overweight women wearing skirted suits, whether they are flouncy or "sporty" as some other poster claims this one is. I associate the skirted bottom with trying to hide a larger butt, just like I associate capris with someone tryiong to hide flabby thighs.

If someone gave me a skirted swimsuit as a gift, I would assume they were making some kind of slight about their opinion of my body or weight. I wanted to let the OP know this so she can more carefully consider her somewhat odd idea for a gift.

So sorry my opinion is so offensive to you. It is not like I went to your neighborhood pool and personally picked on all of your skirt-suit wearing sisters. Lighten up, sweetie!

Sorry. I wasn't offended by your post. Just letting you know what is happening in the real world! :)

I bought a Disney swimsuit once.

It was made by the same folks that make that luggage IMHO.

Way back in my youth I sold swimwear. For MOST of us swimwear needs a little lycra to "smooth" things out. For most of us swimwear needs a little "bust support" (If you look like the girl in the Disney add you can quit reading) For most of us Disney fails to provide those needed things. It was cheaply made, had not enough lycra and basically was unflattering!

It did have a mickey design. I guess Disney thought that was enough. I didn't and sent the piece of junke back! (It was cheap however, but there was a reason!)

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But.....at almost 60 years of age, and at 5'8" and 155 lbs, I doubt anyone would classify me as overweight. I have been wearing those skirted suits for about two years now. Why??? Frankly, I'm tired of having to do all that 'maintainence' in that area, if you get my drift. Legs are bad enough.
Sure, I wish I could go back to my bikini's but that just isn't going to happen..not even if I lose that 15 lbs...the tummy just isn't anyone needs to see. But, overweight? Nope.
Would I wear a Tink suit? No. I love Tink..obviously..look at my screen name. And I do have a bit of Tink stuff at home..mostly for the holidays. I have to say that I have a hard enough time wearing my WDW teeshirts at home..no way am I going to buy a Tinkerbell bathing suit. I think I'll leave that up to the younger set. But, if someone else wants to, more power to 'em.
But...stop casting aspersions on those of us who choose skirted suits...many are not even close to be overweight!!!

I will explain one more time - the OP wanted to give a skirted suit AS A GIFT to a friend. I know for a fact I am not the only one who associates a skirted suit with overweight women (or older women). IMHO, if a friend of mine gave me a skirted suit as a gift, I would think she was making a statement concerneing what she thought of my body/weight. To save her from the possibilty that her friend would also perceive this gift as a slight, I suggested she look for something else.

Sidenote: when I was fat, I did look for skirted suits, but now that I have lost almost 40 lbs., I'd never wear one again. I wore them, deluding myslef into thinking they were camoflaging my butt and thighs, but looking at photos, I can tell they did nothing for my figure but make me look dumpy. I now wear a tankini with a bikini bottom, not a skirt, which I think is much more common among average-size women age 30 - 50 than a skirted suit, or at least they seem to be from my personal observations.

And please, get over yourself. I am not referring to you (or anyone else) personally. I don't know you. I've never seen you. I honestly have no desire to try to see anyone from the DIS. I am not calling any one in particular fat. Even if you own a skirted suit, I am not calling you fat. I am merely saying that a particualr tyle of suit is favored by plussies, or Poohs or whatever euphasims you want to use. Not that the only person who wear a tankiki is a fat lump. Sheesh! Reading comprehension skills are a good thing, people, as is not reading too much into a post and persoanlizing the message! ;)

Excuse me??? Get over myself?? I think not. My reading comprehension skills are just fine thank you very much. You made a comment about skirted bottoms being used to hide larger butts...right? I feel more than free to take issue with that. There are many of us that wear these suits just because we like them. I have plenty of tankinis with bikini bottoms.
Have you seen our European and Canadian friends at the beach lately??? Those that are 'pooh' sized do not favor either tankinis or skirted bottoms..they seem to favor bikinins!!! They don't see to care if it 'all hangs out'....maybe they have the right attitude.
You have tried to lump those who prefer to wear a particular style into one big group. And that just does not work. Again, you are entitled to your opinion...as am I, and everyone else here.
Why get so worked up if, and when, someone takes exception to your post?? My opinion is just as valid as yours. Hope I'm comprehending your post correctly...at my advanced age, I may not be able to see the words correctly :lmao:

I will agree though...I don't think anyone should be buying someone else a bathing suit as a gift. It's way too personal an item. I know that I have to try on about 20 of the stupid things before I find one I actually want to wear. And that isn't a recent occurance. I had the same issue when I was a skinny little thing.
