I know I'll get good advice/information on this forum! My adult son and his best friend from grade school/high school would like to spend a few days at Disney before they begin to "adult" in the real world of graduate school and careers. Can I let them use my points if I won't be staying with them? Do I have to "sell" them my points? What is the best way for me to do this? Thank you for any advice/thoughts given.

how old are they, I think 1 has to be 18 if no parent is with them.

Yes, another recent thread spoke about the evolving of DVC ownership, and mine evolved from having a 2 year old when I purchased to a now soon to be 22 year old. My son took his first official "adult" trip with friends the year of his 18th birthday. I also added him 1st as an associate, so he could manage his own reservations and then last year I put him on the deed. Thankfully he's been paying attention these last 19 years, he's the DVC expert from check in, to check out. I gift him his birthday week-end every October at Food & Wine, just him & his friends!

As the owner you can let whomever you want use your points - you just book the reservation w/ DVC for them.
You can call to do so, or you can log in to the DVC member site and under the booking tab, book what/when your son wants to go, put his name as the lead guest & friend’s name as second guest.
Give him the reservation number you’ll get and tell him to link it in his MDE (my Disney experience) account.
If he doesn’t have an MDE account he needs to create one as should his friend, which they can do via the WDW site. He can do everything else from MDE like customizing MBs, linking credit card, attaching tickets, etc..
If he wants a dinning plan you’ll need to add that for him by calling member services and I think DME as well if he’s flying in.
Remind him to buy his ticket before 60 days out so he can take advantage of those 60 day FPs, which he’ll need if he wants to ride FOP or the new slinky roller coaster :)

Excellent advice from the PP's! As was said, you are the owner, so YOU must make the reservation and be certain to put it in his name. He will have to show his photo I.D. at check in. Good advice about dining plan and tickets, FP, from Sndral!

That's good to know. For some reason I thought you had to be at least 19yrs old to check in. My son, who is 18, was complaining one day that he was trying to plan a grad trip with his friends and most places won't allow 18yr olds to check in. I believed it made sense so I didn't even check what the DVC policy would be.

Thank you all for the helpful information. Unfortunately, the plans have fallen through--he needs to be at school by August 1 and his friend needs to be at Big Blue in Texas by the 3rd week of July. Truly, I appreciate all the information and will keep it for further reference.

Happy 4th to all!
