adult sized lanyards--do they close with velcro?

I bought my kids some WDW lanyards for pin trading and they close with velcro, which I know is a safety feature.

Do they sell adult WDW lanyards without the velcro? Dh wants one that he can wear to work, but doesn't want to risk a velco one because he'd be afraid to lose his ID and keys.

All of the adult lanyards I have seen from Disney have the velcro on them. (I have purchased 4 of them, 1 for me, 3 for other people).

I prefer them because if, heaven forbid, you catch your lanyard or someone were to grab your lanyard from behind to choke you, you have the release at the front.

My work lanyard has the release at the back of the neck which I don't like because I can't see where my lanyard would get caught at the front and I wouldn't be able to pull my head out of it.

BTW, I have not found that the lanyards with the velcro open up on their own nor have I had an issue with them coming apart at an imoppurtune time. I carry a pouch on my lanyard and it can get pretty heavy (cash, credit card, id, KTTK card, receipts, coins, etc).

Yes, the ones my sister and I bought at WDW two weeks ago did. That could be an issue as at one point my sister's did start to open and fall off and a CM pointed it out to her. After that we were both really careful about checking to see that ours were tightly velcroed every so often, usually before getting on rides, after and before and after meals etc.

Also I found it kind of scratchy on my neck so the last day or so I looped the straps around and through the rings on my fanny pack. Much more comfortable!

Oh, that's interesting. My Millionaire lanyard does not have velcro. I wonder if it's an older design and that's why. I had thought about getting a different one for trading, but now that I know the other ones are Velcro, I think I'll stick with the one I have.

You can buy lanyards at Wal-Mart. They close with velcro, are in the jewlery section where they hang the wallet photo inserts, and are about 96 cents each. You can get them where they hang either portrait or landscape direction.

I don't know what they cost at Disney but I'm pretty sure they're more than 96 cents.

I have had mine for 4 years now.
