No flames please!!!

Do any of you adults, especially women, order kids meals to eat at WDW?? I don't eat a lot at one setting and was looking at the size and offerings of kids meals and it looks like an option that would fit me perfectly. In the past I've just had snacks or ordered the smallest meal available, wherever we eat, and then had to waste part of it unless my DH was super hungry. I know it says for little ones under a certain age, but....? I'm still buying food there and none of it would go to waste there!

:confused3 Thanks!

I think it makes sense. I did this in October a few times at CS meals when my guys were very hungry & I wasn't. Why should you pay for a hugh meal that you know you won't eat. It wasteful. If you have a 9 year old & the kids meal isn't enough for them, you wouldn't exect to get adult portions for kids price would you? Same principle I think. Enjoy! :thumbsup2

I have frequently ordered a kid's CS meal for myself, or shared a meal with my DD.

This was something I was wondering, since having a gastric band fitted it doesnt make sence ordering a adult meal and throwing most of it away.

I have at counter service places. But when we go to a Table service place and I don't think I can eat big, I have asked to split a meal with hubby and they always bring a second plate, no problem, they don't even look twice at that request. :thumbsup2

At CS it's no problem. At TS it's the discretion of the restaurant. I've read reports of some restaurants that will charge a bit more for a kid's meal for an adult. But I also wanted to point out that maybe ordering an appetizer as an entree would be a wiser choice. You can only eat so many chicken tenders and mac n cheese!

I ordered CS meals from the kids menu almost our entire trip last Feb. I'm a vegi and there are not many options for me out there (and Disney's meaty tasting vegi burger is not my idea of yum), but the kids spaghetti and mac & cheese were great alternatives! I used to order from the regular menu and throw away half of my meal, so I figure why not order a kids meal.

Eat your kids meal proud and know that there are others just like you!

I enjoy getting a kids meal. I mean, sometimes I just really want a PB&J, or something else small. Leaves more room for my favorite, ya know . . . :mickeybar !

Or--do like me & just order dessert!!! :cool1: I didn't want a heavy lunch at Rainforest Cafe, so I ordered the Mango Strawberry Shortcake & had it delivered with everyone else's meal.

We ate too much last trip & this time DH & I will know better & split entrees.

When trying to order a kids meal I have had three different responses. I got a "sure, no problem" at Tony's Town Square in the Magic Kingdom. Then I got a waiter at San Angel Inn in Epcot who doubled the portion of the kids meal and then charged about 1.5X what it cost on the kids menu. And then at Marrakesh in Epcot I got told no way (politely, of course, this is Disney!). That time I just ordered an appetizer, no big deal. It definitely just depends on your waiter.

Another option for a smaller meal at CS is to order without the sides - a burger, wrap or sandwich on it's own. I am able to do this at DL without any problem, and I understand it's fine to do at WDW as well.

Well, I guess this wasn't a loaded topic like I thought!

I tried ordering the sandwich w/o chips at Sunshine Fair and the CM said "I still have to charge you for the chips, so you can be charged for them and take them or not." This was after reading on here that you could request just the sandwich. I haven't tried it since...I order more salads or just fruit and veggies if they are available.

I've done the appetizer thing or just the starter salad and/or soup before too.

At the resorts, counter service, I always order the kids breakfast because it is just enough for me, no one has ever said anything.

Actually we have done this at alot of counter service places. Not only does it save a few buck but I dont feel bad about wasting food. We share a large drink too (eek), and snacks and stuff....too much good stuff to try, dont want to get filled up!

At the Brown Derby I wanted the Kids Chef Salad at lunch, the CM said that "I will have to charge you more", I said OK. The rest of my party ordered from the adult menu. I was not charged more for the kids portion. It is always at the descretion of the server at table service. At counter service, I regularly order from the kids menu.
