Adult ordering from kid's menu at Coral Reef

I know that an adult can order from a kid's menu, and I have done so at counter restaurants a lot, but never at a TS location. My mom really wants to go to Coral Reef and I made us a lunch ADR. Unfortunately, I don't eat seafood and that steak on the adult's menu is way too big for me. I was thinking about ordering from the kid's menu.

Does anyone have any pictures or reviews on the items from the kid's menu? I am specifically considering the steak or grilled chicken.

Also, I am hoping that someone can confirm they were able to order from the kid's menu here without issue. :) Just to make sure

I've always found Coral Reef to be very accommodating of this kind of thing. Not a problem.

I'm so glad to hear that. When I was there a few years ago, someone wanted to order 2 appetizers instead of an appetizer and entree on the dining plan (back then dining plan included an appetizer and entree-don't know if it does now) because they said they weren't very big eaters. Unfortunately, the server was insistent that the person MUST order an appetizer and an entree, even though the person tried to argue with them that really what they wanted was less "money". Not very accommodating then, but I'm glad things seem to have improved. I also think of ordering kids' meals at TS but never have.

The dining plan is still quite rigid as far as what you can order, you can not sub an appetizer for a dessert, for example, or an appetizer instead of an entree. They have more flexibility with cash guests.

I'm not sure about ordering off of the children's menu there, but we were on the dining plan and my husband wanted an appetizer as his main. They doubled the size and allowed him to order using his 1 credit.

Depending on the restaurant they MAY allow you to order an appetizer as an entree on DDP, most likely at Disney operated restaurants such as Coral Reef. They will likely never allow you to substitute an appetizer for a dessert though. The "money" argument won't usually fly because the restaurant doesn't care how much money the item cost on the menu as compared to the other item. It's all in how the meal is rung up that determines how the restaurant will get reimbursed by Disney for use of that dining credit. A lot of places, particularly the third party places but sometimes the Disney ones too, know that they cannot ring up an entree and serve you two appetizers, and then keep accurate records as to what they sold and how much they should be reimbursed.

For the most part the kids' meals at non-signature, Disney operated restaurants are nasty though...so I personally wouldn't go that route.

Most likely they will bring you an adult size portion of the children's food and charge an adult price. That has been our experience at several other TS restaurants.
