Ok, I know my wedding is in Disney World which is a playground for kids, but when it comes to my reception I really do not want kids attending. Most of the kids who are attending are either infants or spoiled rotten and will be a real pain to deal with (not my side of the family). Also, the idea of spending ~$120/kid who most likely will not eat is just too much. Disney said the kids count towards the final count.

I am considering throwing a kid's party during the reception so the kids have something to do. Does anyone else have any ideas?

(Please note that I love kids but whenever they are around the former nanny in me just worries about them hurting themselves or having to watch them because their parents are partying and not paying attention.)

A kids' party sounds like a great idea to me!

Disney can hook you up with babysitters to come to a room (or individual rooms, if you just want to pay for people to have babysitters). There are also activities at some of the hotels, like pirate adventures and things, but those might be tricky to coordinate with your wedding because they're on a set schedule.

Let us know how it goes! :thumbsup2

I wasnt curious enough with my original search on this subject. I just found a similar thread that answer this question.

Thanks for the post lurkyloo. :goodvibes

where is your wedding? there is a place at the bw that used to be the kids area that they have now shut down...i'm wondering if you could rent this space for your kids party, or if you could have the individual babysitters gather there to watch your guests children...i don't blame you for wanting an adults only reception. i'm lucky in that i am only expecting 2 young children to come and they are in my wedding!!! i think that either a kids party, or in room childcare is going to be the best. i grew up in a family that thought that if there was alcohol present that there should not be kids there, so i'm used to this...good luck! let us know what happens!

When we got married, we also had an adults only reception. The 4 kids, which are great by the way, went to the NeverLand Club at the Poly. After they attended the wedding, the Limo and a parent took them over there. they had an AMAZING time!! We have been married almost a year, and the boys still talk about it!!

PS - It wasn't too expensive either. For almost 4 hours, 4 boys, came to about $150 or so... ;)
