Adult only first time trip

Hi everybody. I have been stalking this site for months planning an upcoming trip to Disney and am so appreciative of all of the valuable information!

The back story is I am 30 and have never ever been to Disney. My DH received his 400 DVC points years ago in his divorce and they have gone unused for so long because I didn't want to repeat the same vacations he had done for 10 years before he knew me (I know, I'm ridiculous). Well I have gotten over myself and we are staying at BCV for 4 nights for a long weekend beginning next Friday

I have been TRYING to create a list of things that are different because I don't want to be a repeat of his past. He has never drank through Epcot nor did he even know he has access to the top of the world lounge. Both of these things and 2 rounds of golf are on our list.

We have gotten APs since we will be returning with kids in August so we have access to the parks but I would love UNIQUE ideas so that I can surprise him with stuff different then his 10 years of vacations...

Sorry if this seems so petty, I've struggled with even going for years but I am REALLY looking forward to it now that I have started planning but being able to make it ours is important to me.

Does anyone have any other ideas? Or any ideas of things that I HAVE to do on my first visit?? I cannot wait for our trip. His 13th and my first. What a combo

If he's never done Top of the World lounge definitely squeeze that it. If you're looking for something that is adults only give Jellyrolls a try over at the Boardwalk. It's a dueling piano bar, so will feel a bit like an escape from Disney at the same time there's a good chance you'll hear a Disney song or two performed.

If you're a foodie at all I'm sure there are a few restaurants that are newer since he's been there that you could make sure to check out.

Go to restaurants that are new from the last 10 years. At least he won't have any memories in those places. Find out what restaurants he has visited and avoid those if it bothers you.

Go during a time he has not been there. Perhaps you can go during a special time like the Flower and Garden Show or Food and Wine Fest or Halloween time or Christmas time. Pick a time that he has not been at those special event times. All the special event times have extra activities you can do, but most will cost extra dollars.

Take a boat out on the lake. Even if it is just a Sea Raycer. There is a "drink along the monorail line" thing too, but we tend to just stay at the Poly once we get there. They have some really good new drinks. AKL has a great bar too and some neat African art that can be seen on every floor. They also have areas where you can sit in rocking chairs and watch the animals and when it is dark, you can see the animals through night vision goggles. Almost anything at Disney Springs will probably be new to him. Get massages at the spa near the Grand Floridian, if he's into that.

Trader Sam's Grog Grotto at the Polynesian Resort. Try to get there around 4pm when they open as it fills quickly. It's an interactive bar. When you order a specific drink, the cast members react to the order and the bar reacts as well. Drinks with a special mug to take home are a bit pricey, but some are not so bad.

Been seeing a lot of YouTube videos of the Sunset Safari. Really looks cool!

I may be wrong but unless you are staying at AkL the sunrise and sunset safaris are out, they are only for guests there. A lot has changed in 10 years so even the rides in the parks are going to be different. Bunch of Star Wars related things at HS, AK is open after dark now wasn't then. I wouldn't worry about any of it though, it will be different for him because he's with you and not the ex so every experience will be new again.

I'm pretty sure the night safari is open to all guests, because I was looking to book it for dh and I on our upcoming trip.

I am surprising dh with the Epcot Seas Aqua tour (snorkeling). They also have a tour where you actually scuba dive in the tank but you need to be certified divers to do it.
We are also planning to do some kayaking, sea raycers, drinking and eating around the world during F&W and some golf if I can get dh in to a polo shirt LOL.

I've actually dove in the Living Seas a number of times, I'm a master diver and my son is an open water diver. We enjoy it but it's cold, really cold. I end up having to wear two of the wet suits they provide. I've never done the FW cruise but did the dessert party years ago. I wasn't impressed but that was before they moved it to where you can get walk up ressies and actually be in the hub to watch it. If you watch from the Tomorrowland Terrace where you make ressies in advance, you can get a pretty obstructed view, my avitar is actually a picture taken from there and you can see the bushes in the way. I love F&W, there are a number of activities offered during it and from what I understand this year there is also going to be some hands on cooking classes offered. I do at least one big food and wine pairing lunch or dinner that they offer and at least one of the little wine tasting seminars they offer each day. Don't forget to take some time and just relax at the resort, sounds like you have a pretty action packed trip planned.

Listen - really - don't worry about repeating things he has done. Yes - you want to make sure there are a couple of NEW things - but it doesn't totally need to be different. But for four days - just a couple items is fine. A new restaurant. He may have favorite things he wants to share with you. Sure- maybe he's done them before - and maybe he wants YOU to experience them. Disney is different depending upon who you travel with. My solo trips are very different than my couples trips and my whole family trips are different from those. They feel very different - we do different things, approach the day differently, etc.

In four days - if you have never been there before - you aren't even going to see every attraction in the 4 parks in that amount of time. You all don't NEED a bunch of extra stuff.
