Adult hot tubs now close at 10 pm?! Anyone else upset?!

Seriously?

Seriously. Menus are the same, and food not that great. Evening family-friendly options almost non-existent. Crowds, lines, waiting for everything. Prices skyrocketing. Etc.

We were so looking forward to evenings in the pool, as they are too busy during the day (we have a DS with Autism who has a hard time with crowds). He loves watching movies from the pool and because of the crazy pool hours it was not an option.

So yes, one more and we're done. And that's only because we promised DS already and we can drive to port.

Seriously

When we cruised the Fantasy in 2012 one of our favorite things to do was hit the pool after the late dining. Kids would swim and Dh and I would sit in the chairs on deck and watch the movie. We all really enjoyed this. Did Alaska in 2014 so we didn't try and swim at night so not sure what the policy was then. This past May we went on the Fantasy again and we were very dismayed that the pools closed at 10. We did sit and watch a few movies, but it just wasn't the same. :( Since there was nowhere to comment about this on the comment card I wrote to DCL after we got home saying I really hope that they will reconsider their policy since we will be cruising the Fantasy again next year. I received a response that they would be reviewing my comments with staff. Whether it will matter or not I don't know, but if enough people wrote in their displeasure maybe they'll take it seriously and hire more staff to cover the pools!

The first paragraph of your response makes it a bit clearer that it has less to do with the reduction of hot tub/pool hours and more to do with other tangible reasons (e.g. food quality, entertainment, crowds, waiting and finances). That makes much more sense as a reason to avoid a (DCL) cruise vacation in the future - perfect sense.

You will love Alaska, pool time or not. It is spectacular and DCL does it very, very well.

I agree that this is ridiculous! It's only 10:00pm during a vacation...one of the few times during the year that I am able to stay awake past 10:00PM, and they're pushing me toward a club or to bed. Not cool to limit the options during a vacation.

I have decided that I am OK with the closure time as long as there are super hot servers attending to my every need up until they have to pull my pasty flesh from the bleachy loam. I am totally open about this. Age, gender, transgender, any and all races-bring it. Star Wars Rebel Alliance uniforms would be amazing. Can you groove on Mace Windu bringing you a glass of champagne? Oh, I am feeling the force, ladies and gentlemen. I will mostly behave myself and go to bed early.

Well, as you all know, I'm trying to get as many people as possible to write to DCL and get the longer pool hours returned to us!

PLEASE consider going on the DCL website and posting your same comments to them. They need to know about the disappointment that we're all feeling. I'm on back-to-back sailings on the Magic in January. One I haven't done a 10+ nighter in awhile. I was so excited about relaxing, settling in, and staying up later in the evenings...until I realized that the Magic has had the same pool hours as the Dream I had sailed on this past January. Ugh!

While I don't use the hot tubs at night often, I can say the same about the late night movies, and going to the night clubs. That said, I like to have all of those options open, because all being able to choose based upon my whim at the time part of what makes the evenings magical for me.

I would be very sad to find the hot tubs and pool closed so early. There's something really special about swimming under the stars when the ship deck is quiet.

perhaps because it's so close to concierge cabins and people complained about noise? It is QUIET cove. IMHO 10 pm is not early. :duck:

I seriously hate the website, will you tell me how to find the Feedback section?

A bit disappointing... one of my best memories was hanging at the pool late with my kids. It's also the only time I dared get in the pool since it was not crowded then. I think I will write DCL a note. An extension to 11 or midnight would be a nice compromise. We are late diners and dinner is barely over by 10.

The OP was talking about the Quiet Cove adult only hot tub area.

'
FWIW, the only serious noise I've ever heard in that area is from the parents on Deck 12 yelling at their kids in the splash pool that overlooks the Cove. "Do you have to potty? Don't run! Billy! Don't drown your sister!" ;)
