Asking - want opinions - not a lecture

My adult child lived in my home until joining the military. They consider her 'home' address to be my address. She is stationed overseas. She has a valid unexpired Driver's License with our home address.

Can I buy her a DVC AP?

She will need a current ID with your address on to pick up her AP.

For tax and other purposes, a military member stationed overseas has the US domicile that they had before they left... I think...in which case it's not even an ethical issue. calling @hlhlaw07 !!

I'm not hlhlaw, but I can say that my parents used my grandparents address while they were overseas.

And my address is currently the permanent address for a service member. We get some mail, and her driver's license has our address. She is also registered to vote here.

Certainly sounds like she has everything needed to verify her residence. So having the drivers license is all that is needed.

Yes, military members retain the legal residence they had upon entering the military (referred to as home of record). That is, unless they do something to affirmatively change it. Mere presence in a location, whether it be short term or for years, because of military orders does nothing to change legal residence/domicile. I have been in the military for 10 years and lived 6 different locations (none of them TX where I'm a resident), but have always maintained my TX driver's license, paid taxes as a TX resident, registered all my cars in TX, and voted as a TX resident.

Now, I can't speak to whether that qualifies you under Disney's member of the household, but legally any military member retains residency.

Thank you! That was my understanding. Our State's Registry of Motor Vehicles has specific rules and proceedures for maintaining a DL for military members.

Her Drivers License is unexpired and has our home address. I will be with her to pick up ( and the following 12 days of WDW fun!)

Just an FYI, sometimes the military ticket discount is better than an AP discount.

yep...and thanks for the service. Do what is right in your heart, never give in to the politics police

In the end, looks like 1 x 4 day hopper + 1 x 4 day hopper PLUS makes the most $ sense. With the AP, we would gave to still pay water park admission.
Kicking myself for not thinking about this when thr PAPs were on sale

Not sure if you have to pay sales tax on APs (probably yes), the military discounted tickets will be tax-free as well (not sure if your math already has that factored in).

APs have tax. My limited understanding is that I can order from Shades of Green, in advance, and not pay the tax. Military 4 day Hopper Plus + a 5 day hopper ( so 2 for each person) is cheaper than a DVC AP + waterpark. I blew it not getting a PAP for DD in January. Never occurred to me that she would be eleigible under DVC rules. Now I know.
