Adult at table but not eating?

LOL. You are not entering a "contract" unless it's a prix fixe. Ridiculous. You are entitled to purchase as much or as little as you wish from any restaurant that has a la carte dishes on the menu.

Yes, but the original post (which some of us are forgetting) is asking about the Akershus and no other place. And that is what most of the replies have dealt with. I think it's been established that yes, that one adult who is not going to eat is going to be charged the same price as any other adult at the restaurant.

Be Our Guest is a freak outlier case relative to the breakfast. It's also not a character meal, or a meal where there is tipped waitstaff. So while at BOG the taking up of space reduces revenue-per-square-foot or revenue-per-hour, it doesn't get free character meets or create oddity for waitstaff.

We went to Biergarten in July and my very picky 12 year old had a mini breakdown and said he didn't want to eat there. We asked the server if it was okay if he just didn't eat, and they said it was fine. Maybe cause it wasnt a " character" meal??

Possible. Or more likely it's because it was a child and the server saw there were underlying circumstances and they offered you up a bit of pixie dust.

Please - going to a popular restaurant and not ordering a meal is rude to everyone: the owners who are counting on the revenue from your table, the wait staff who needs the tips to pay their bills, and the other patrons who are wasting their time waiting for your table. When you enter a restaurant, you are entering a contract to pay the regular fare or better. Be civilized and keep up your end of the deal.
I don't think its rude at all. Hilarious, I'm wasting other peoples time so my family can enjoy the experience Disney chose for them with an ala cart meal.

Not only did they get some revenue from my table that didn't order SEVEN meals but rather two appetizers and four desserts; the server got a nice tip, my family experienced the awesomeness that is that castle, PAID for a picture with the Beast... AND moved off the table quicker so they could work in another party. SCORE!!!!

Thank you Disney for remembering the "other" people this time. I hope it doesn't change.

All that being said, I've paid for Chef Mickey, CRT, Akershus, Crystal Palace and many more on our adventures. I totally understand I am paying for the character experience not the meal. :)

1) As mentioned, eating or not eating, EVERYONE gets charged full price at buffet-shows-AYCTE.
2) Only at ala carte eateries can one sit with their party and not be charged.
3) Akershus is not an ala carte eatery.
4) At buffet-show-AYCTE restaurants, there is no way to determine if the person ate anything or not.
5) And, yes, there are people who would try to sneak people food from their plates.

NOTE: The only exception I have EVER seen is when a child could not possibly eat, such as when they had a feeding tube. However, this is not WDW policy, but a favor by an individual restaurant manager. Managers do have some latitude, but seldom exercise such.

Exact same thing happened to us. Exact! Even the mini breakdown. :)

Except it was twins. So x2.

Not that different from the situation they've gotten themselves into with BOG Breakfast. People book a table for a PPO then get one meal and everyone splits the pastry tray. Or worse they get a cupcake and split it.

but I agree with you 100%. :)

The difference is, you can't police meal sharing at a buffet. Where as at a non buffet, you pay for each meal, it doesn't really matter to Disney who eats it or how many share it.

1) Pardon me, but this seems rude.
2) You did not pay for a picture with The Beast, you paid for a meal.
3) The Beast was a added benefit.
I didn't???? I could've sworn we had to purchase the picture. I thought my daughter could meet him but I paid for the picture portion of it. If I am lying, I apologize.

If you didn't purchase MM you would have had to buy the download from Photopass site.
You didn't pay to have the photo taken and if you used your camera it wouldn't have cost anything

My son once slept through the character buffet and no amount of prodding would wake him. We weren't charged for his meal, but this was offered to us and we didn't ask or expect any consideration. Now he just falls asleep as soon as he sits down and I assure the waitress he'll wake up when the food arrives.

Every now and then, PIXIE DUST floats down and lands on people.
. . . the SERVER must had said something to the manager
. . . the manager must have said to not charge the kiddie
. . . but, don't plan upon this as a common occurrence
. . . only the manager can make that decision

As has been noted, anyone can SAY they are not eating--and then sneak food off another persons plate. Sad as that may be I am sure it has happened--which is one good reason why anyone who goes into a buffet will be charged.

As for ordering a cupcake for seven, a full meal, etc---when I go to a restaurant it is to eat and drink..not to get a quick exit to a Park or a seat to see fireworks.

But that is just me--
