I accidentally clicked a few ads today on this website. Just now I got a message telling me that Windows components have been tampered with and that I need to reinstall Windows XP Professional. Could any of the ads here contain viruses?

It is possible that the notice that you're getting might not be authentic. Sometimes viruses can masquerade as authentic Windows instructions/warnings. I would run a good security sweep program on your computer to see if it picks up anything.
