Ads how to block them??

If you are using Chrome on a computer you can add the Adblock plus extension to block ads. I'd like some tips for blocking ads when using Chrome on my tablet.

I use an Adblocker in Chrome and never realised how littered DIS was with so many ads. It looks like there are some ad blocking apps for ipad. A google search turns up a number of different results.

See a lot of Ads on the disboards page this morning. How do I block them?. Some are taking up most of the page
It's dissapointing at the number of ads here, plus the number of people who seem to be anti-Disney at heart. That's not what I really came for. Are there any other online communities for Disney fans?

I use uBlock Origin. I realize I may be taking money out of some websites hands by blocking ads, but the number of ads on sites that are annoying that cover the page or are malicious and make noise etc is just too high for me to deal with ads anymore.

I've had people call me in a panic because some site has a pop-up ad that looks and sounds like a McAfee alert. I tell them to install an ad blocker and the issue goes away.

It’s a mix of the ones that cover the notifications bar on mobile and then it’s also like why does Disboards allow inappropriate ads on a Disney site?

You get that it cost actual money to run this forum right? The ads are how they make money to support it.

This is the important part here - either you are OK with the ads and continue using the site or you aren't and you go. This site is a service provided by the owners (Dream Unlimited) they need to be compensated for. I certainly wouldn't ask how to avoid their majority revenue stream on their own website.

If I was the owners I'd offer an ad-free version (or include it with the gold sub) for the people it matters to and allow them to put their money where their mouth is so to speak, but from my experience the take up rate is always close to zero. Why decent online news sources are disappearing and most every site has a chum box at the bottom now.

I wish they would offer a member monthly (and/or annual) price to do away with ads and maybe have a few other perks. It seems like DVC members on here would be a prime group for that kind of thing as we already show that we spend disposable income on things that make our lives easier and remove aspects of engagement we don't like.

I am on a couple automotive forums that offer that, and I hate ads. I use a Pihole though so most everything is blocked automatically, but I block because I hate ads, I still want to support sites I care about.

I don't mind most of the ads on the site, but the big one that keeps popping up on the bottom of the screen is just too annoying.

Disboards has gone from being the best Disney site to the spammiest Disney site. These huge spammy ads are slow to load, so when I click on a post that I want to read, the big spammy ad shows up and I click on it by mistake, and then I have to try to go back and find the post I wanted to see. It has gotten to the point where if the title of the post does not seem super interesting, I just ignore it to avoid the spammy ads.
