Hi All

Please help a debate I am having with my Non-DIS friend.

She is booked for 2/16 - 2/24 and has not booked her ADR's yet.
This is vacation week for us here in MA

This is driving me crazy - I ask everyday did you book your ADR's yet?

"Oh not yet, don't worry we won't have a problem." :confused3

Please write back so I can let her know that I am serious. She wants to eat at Le-Cellier, Chef Mickey's, O'hana to name a few.

Is she too late or am I worrying for nothing. Any comments would be great

I want her to have the best time but she doesn't understand how busy it will be that time of year.

Well, if she doesn't want to make ADRs, there isn't alot you can do about it. You've told her, you've done your part.

DH and I went from 2/1-2/6 last year, and we saw people being turned away at every restaurant we went to except California Grill; no one was asking about a walk up there.

I doubt she's too late to get any ADRs yet, but I don't know that LeCellier will be available, it seems to fill up really fast.

I had the same problem with my Sister, she just did not get it. I directed her to these boards but still, she would not listen. I was able to add her to a few of mine but other than that she is on her own. I feel badly because I want her and her family to get the most out of their trip but there is nothing more I can do for her.

Good luck.

Well I went at those times in 2006 and made my ADRS for the popular restaurants.. so I would suggest that your friend do as well.. so put me on your list of people telling your friend yes she needs to make at least some ADRs

Ask her if she really likes cheeseburgers every day? if she wants some variety she had better make ADR's. On the other hand, you already told her. If she wants to wing it, then that's her problem.

In my opinion, you don't have to make your reservations 6 months in advance unless you want one of the princess meals. We're going Thanksgiving weekend, and I made one dinner reservation a few weeks ago for Rose and Crown. You've told your friend - now let her be!

Well you did all that you can do. Now it's time to sit back and wait for her to be upset in a few months when she does finally call and can not get the restaurants or times she wanted or hear about it when she comes back. Some people just do not listen and have to learn the hard way.

I'm having this problem w/ my cousin. We booked our ADR's back in May (or I did rather) I went over and over everything w/ her amking sure our plans messed. Well come to find out 30 days from arrival she decides to "change" the plans. So I kept our ADR's and gave her the # to call and try and make her own ADR's. Much to her dismay she was not able to book a single table. So my advice to you would be you warned your friend. If she gets there and is stuck eating CS meals all week well you warned her. Several times!!! Next time maybe someone will listen to us. Sometimes we do know what we're talking about.

Thanks all

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't me. I am trying not to be a pain in the butt - BUT this is how it is at Disney, now with the Dining plan and especially during the busy season.

So thanks for your comments and please keep em rolling in :goodvibes

I'm booked for May and I can not wait to make my ADR's - It's all part of the planning fun IMHO :)

Make yours, and don't worry about hers. You told her and that is all you can do. When she is stuck eating chicken strips you will feel better knowing you tried to help while getting your picture with Mickey or eating your cheese soup and pretzel bread at LeCellier:lmao:

If she doesn't want to listen, that's not your problem. But I'd be upfront now and tell her that you don't want to hear tales of woe when she comes back because she didn't make the ADR's.

We're from MA and did a trip during presidents week. We didn't make them (this was before days of DISing) and did manage to get a place the first night, after being turned away at a lot of places. We had a  moment and when we got back to the hotel that night got what we could for the rest of the week. Just 2 TS restaurants, the rest we did was all counter service. Never again will we go without making them in advance.

When I went to Disney lat October, a lot of our plans were up in air. People were meeting us, then they weren't. We waited.
I made one ADR for Chef's Mickeys before we left. Our first morning in Disney we made all of our dining reservations for the rest of the week. We even got extremely luck and got Cinderella's castle for breakfast. (we cancelled chef Mickey's)

I have a friend who is planning to go in Dec of this year and I have told her repeatedly that she needs to make the ADRs NOW. (She doesn't' even have the hotel booked but that is a whole 'nother story). She says she doesn't want to be tied down to a particular place... and i said then you will be eating burgers and fries the whole week...and she said yeah and I am so particular about food. She then said can't you just walk up to a restaurant and get in? :rotfl2: I said ugh no, not likely.

There is not much you can do. Just know that you tried to help and if they are unwilling to listen then just leave it at that.
