Do you think ADRs would be vital to have at Cape May Cafe on Sunday afternoon 1/8? I'd like to go there the afternoon of our arrival. But, I'm not sure exactly what time. So, I'm just wondering if anyone has had experience walking in there with no ADR. Thanks!

I would book an ADR and change it if you need to. We were there 12/12 and there was a half hour wait without an ADR.

If you want to go for dinner, yes AR is a very good idea.
If you want to go for lunch, you will have it all to yourself ;)

We had ADRs for Cape May Cafe last Monday, December 12 for 6:40. Even though the parks seemed quiet, we had to wait 45 minutes for a table. People who hadn't made a reservation were leaving because the wait was too long (more than an hour). The food was excellent, especially the dessert bar. I would recommend making a reservation.

I guess you would have it all to yourselves for lunch, but you'd have nothing to eat as Cape doesn't serve lunch, just breakfast and dinner.

While we enjoy the breakfast, we did dinner here last Friday night and I probably wouldn't go back again for dinner as I didn't think it was all that great...or even good. We had ADR's for 7:30, bad time!! It was packed. Lines on each side of the buffet and out of half of what was up there. The salad area was almost all gone as the kid's stuff was slim pickens. It took about a 1/2 hr til most of these things were replenished so we spent more time going up and standing in line than sitting and eating. Kinda tough and frustrating when it's just 1 adult and a child. Won't be going back for dinner. The food was ok, the desserts, well the chocolate thing with the oreo cookie on the bottom made up for the aggravating dinner.

I believe they open at 5:30 so if you're looking for late afternoon, that'll be it. It's probably your best bet as most of the food items should be stocked up. That weekend is the marathon so it could be rather busy. I'd definitely make ADR's if I were you.

If you get there a little before it opens for dinner then you probably don't need an ADR. We haven't had any problems if we can get to the restaurant early enough. If you wait too long though, you may have an hour or more wait. Lunches at the resorts seem to be empty most of the time though.

Cape May is our absolute fav when we go to WDW. We will be dining there this friday evening at 6:40PM. It is a very popular place to eat so I recommend you make an ADR. It opens at 5PM.

As for the poster who did not like it. I am so sorry you were dissappointed. As with most retaurants at WDW, they are at there peak during the holidays. So extra patience is needed I'm afraid. Who knows they may have been short staffed that night. All it takes is a couple to call off last minute to throw everything off. I work in the food business, so I know this first hand.l I would recommend you try it again if you go at a less seasonal time.

Nontheless...ENJOY!!!

Blessings,
WInnie

If you really want to have dinner at the Cape May Cafe you should make a dining reservation. The Clam Bake is very popular and it's no fun to have to wait for a table when you are hungry. I believe that the first seating is at 5:30pm.
I'm pretty sure they only serve breakfast and dinner. Go over to allearsnet.com....dining.....menus for the Epcot resorts (Boardwalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Swan and Dolphin) if you want to have lunch in that area. A few places do serve lunch, but most only serve breakfast and dinner as the area is pretty quiet during the day.
