According to the touringplans website, they are stating that Starting on August 1st of this year, Disney will only accept ADR's 90 days in advance. This is NOT confirmed.

Reservations that have already been made will not be affected by the changes and this will only be temporary until they change their ADR system.

This is what it says on the website:
Advance Dining Reservation Window Changing to 90 Days Soon
Details have not yet been finalized, but Disney will begin transitioning to a new reservation system sometime in the late summer or early fall. As a result, Disney will only be accepting Advance Dining Reservations up to 90 days in advance starting around August 1.

The reservation window starts growing again once the move to the new reservation system is underway, and Disney expects to be back to the full 180-day window sometime in the fall of 2009.

We're told that this does not affect any existing reservations. We've also heard (but not confirmed) that Cinderella's Castle, Chef Mickey's and Victoria and Albert's will still have 180-day windows.

I wonder if this will mean they are finally gonna fool proof the system so that people can't make any double bookings??? I actually thought they would do the opposite and make it so that people can make ADR's a year in advance which is what I've heard lately.

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I was on the phone with Disney every day this week tring to get fireworks cruise for our grand gathering. They said each day that it wouldn't go through because they were changing their computer system. This could be why.

This would be great!

I'm all for planning things early, but I think that it's too hard to choose our dining itinerary six months in advance, especially when Disney hasn't release park hours, EMHs, etc. It would be so much easier to make them once this info was made public!

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I've had to go back and try to change our dining reservations once the park hours and "best parks" information came out, and that was a pain for me and the poor CM who had to work to cancel and re-book a whole bunch of ADRs.

It should stay at 90 days out! Booking meals 6 months in advance is a little nutty.

yeah, sounds like the computer systems there are in need of an overhaul...I've been trying all afternoon to pay my vacation bill off...keep getting a "system unavailable" page. Still have a few days left so I'll just keep trying.

Well, there were those rumors earlier about the possibility of making ADRs online. Maybe this has something to do with that? :confused3

I understand the need to know park hours and EMH and even best days touring plan info before booking ADR's. But 90 days is still no different than 180 days IMO. Not much help to the non-planner type.

Wouldn't it be great if they could give on-site guests some sort of priority booking status? Or does deluxe concierge already have this? Would it be unfair to treat it like the Disney Visa offer vs. the general public thing they already do?

I like the 90 day window.

They do. A Disney Resort Guest can make dining reservations for their entire trip starting 180 days before their arrival day. This can be done all in one phone call. Off Site Guests need to call back every day to get their reservations.

That always makes me chuckle when someone brings that up.

Much as I would love it to be online, I seriously doubt they have the server capacity or tech savvy that it would require. They have enough trouble with the Cruise line online reservations, and that is way less traffic than would occur with online ADR's. Cool if they did though. Let's sort out DCL out first, that's just gotten progressively worse, who knows maybe they have learnt from those mistakes?

I would think if they do go online that they would tie it in to a confirmation number, limiting to onsite guests would be a nice perk, and would limit the number of people hitting the site.

I don't want to be the pessmist but a change in computer system makes me nervous for the ADR's I already have. I would hate to have existing ADR's lost or inadvertantly canceled.

Maybe because my work just went "live" with a new system and it has been our chaos for 6 months I am a little scaded??

I will hope for the best!:thumbsup2

That's funny, just after I posted my comment, I suddenly had a "oh no, I can see all my adr's going awol!!" moment. Keep those confirmation numbers handy!!!

If they get someone else to program the system...

Disney's website is bad enough, I don't want to picture them doing a site that would need to manage the load that online ADRs would require...

*now loading*

A new system hopefully will be better, than now, and then maybe someday we could embrace that crazy new technology called online booking... Nothing more frusturating than to sit on hold long distance only to find what you want is not available.

I use services like open table all the time and love it, and would love to do that at Disney even if there was a booking fee, or it was just reserved for those staying at Disney Resorts....

But until the bugs of the current systems are worked out I will just "wish upon a star on this one"

Wouldn't be easier for the computer if they left it at 90 days, less info to be stored. I personally like 90 days way better.

90 days would be wonderful, I hope that it is true.

Please please please please please let is be true. :)

I had the same thoughts-I can see my Christmas dining going out the window. :scared:

I don't mind the 180 days out, but they do need to fix/change their system since a lot of people are making more ADR's than they should and double booking and I was on hold over an hour and 15 min. to make my ADR's!

I would love it if we could make our ADR's online. This would be great not having to wait on hold on the phone for so long.

I just got off the phone about 10 minutes ago with a CM that told me the ONLY ressies they are taking past January 15, 2009 are for CRT and Chef Mickey's, until their computer system is upgraded.

Of course, I am arriving January 16, 2009. I see Disney getting disgusted with me calling EVERY day... a couple times a day, waiting for them to open ADR's.

I see the competition for the "good" ADR's to get much more fierce if they do a 90 day window. The "average Joe" may not know to reserve 6 months in advance for the 8 am CRT to get main street all to himself, but I am betting he is thinking about it or read about it on the internet by three months before his trip.

I can't agree with you on the 180 days but I certainly agree with everything else you said. They need to be able to control ADR's better although I'm really not sure how since even if you use the correct name, phone number etc. you could always use your spouse's name, cell phone number etc. to make a second set.

Making them online would certainly be great! It would certainly make things easier and we could do our own searching for openings. Of course the same problems could occur for making duplicate ADR's.

Hopefully in the long run the new system(s) will be better for every one. :3dglasses
