ADR's necessary in January

Yes, they are necessary. The DP has increased attendance at all TS restaurants. Which is good from Disney's point of view. Get people use to eating at the TS for very little money on the DP then slowly up the price. A little off topic but they don't do anything that's going to cost them money.

Question please. I made ADR's for trip in May via WDW operator. She gave me several confirmation numbers. Is there anyway to check on these on-line to see if they are correct and actually there - I ask because I was charged for several, I see a 122.00 charge to CC, and I know they were going to charge for CRT lunch but I don't know if it adds up correctly for 3 people and was wondering if there was a central repository for me to just print them all up. Thanks.

I have to agree that ADRs for late January (or anytime) would be a good idea. Especially if you are on the dining plan...that way you can eat where you want and get the most for your money.

As for checking ADRs online, there's no way to do that. :(

I would make ADR's for those restaurants you really want to dine at. If you are afraid of being "locked into" a specific time, you can always call when you arrive to see if your ADR times can be changed. As someone else said, the dining plan is making getting a walk-up table more difficult, especially for dinner.

I made ADRs for our late January trip (well my TA did! LOVE her!). I always plan on what parks, what day, so my dining is just an extension of that. I know we'll end up hopping around, and I may not need any of the ADRs, but I know they're there in case we do.

It depends are your party size too. if you have more than 4, make em. Even though we'll be there for what i hope is the slowest week of the year  It seems like b/c of the dp everything is getting booked up with no walk ups.

We were in wDW last week and it was really quiet but if you want to eat at a character or nice place like le cellier you'd better make them.

We were in WDW in January last year before the dining plan came on the scene, and even though it was a very quiet week attendance-wise, there were still some restaurants we were very happy we had priority seatings (now ADR's) for. The ones that come to mind are Cinderellas Royal Table (dinner), Chef Mickey's (breakfast), Crystal Palace (breakfast) and 'Ohana. At these restaurants walk-ins were either being turned away, or quoted very long wait times.

I can only imagine that with the new dining plan it will be more important than ever to make those ADR's. We have them all made for our upcoming trip with the idea that we can always cancel if we have a change in plans. My husband wasn't crazy about the idea of planning in advance where we were going to eat, but I know he'd be even more cranky if he had to eat chicken strips all week!

My philosophy is it surely would not hurt to make them, but if you don't there is a chance of not getting what you want. The risk is up to you :)

We have a few ADRs to go for upcoming trip, but otherwise are pretty well covered! One less thing to have to think about :) And I KNOW we will be eating at the places we have wanted to :)
