ADRs in October?

We'll be at WDW during the first week of October. We usually like to do a few sit down meals, but haven't typically made PS (other than character meals), which hasn't been a problem at that time of year.

I'm thinking that with the packages including free dining, the sit down restaurants may be busier than usual and I'm wondering if I should just make ADRs and cancel them if we decide not to use them. We are a family of 7, so it's not like we just need a table for 2! Any opinions on how the dining package might affect the need for an ADR?

I have never been in October (much less had the opportunity to make so many ADR's thanks to the dining plan) but I am going to start calling at the 90 day mark for each of our ADR's. I don't want to risk not getting to eat where we want (hopefully when we want). It's hard to say what the dining plan will do but I would imagine it will make last minute reservations hard to come by. I'd rather plan early than be sorry later.
