ADRs for two groups with different check in dates

So, my family (myself, DW, DS, and my parents) are going in May. However, my parents are checking in the day after us.

I think the last time I tried to make ADRs 180 days from my check in with the same issue I was not able to add my parents to any ADRs. I actually had to call Disney and they used some "Pixie Dust" to get them on all the ADRs.

Anyone know if this is still the case?

I have never needed to match guests with my ADR's. I choose the restaurant, add the number of guests. The ADR is linked to me, so I never even choose anyone on my guest list. Just the number.
