ADRs for Oct - a few ?s

We are going Oct 19-24

-Will we need ADRs everywhere? We are not doing the DDP and don't plan to eat much TS. I plan to do an ADR or 2 for the 'musts' (a character breakfast at CM or Ohana and Mexico). Will I have any chance of getting in park restaurants without an ADR? How about resorts?

-How much notice to cancel an ADR?

-Will the online system be up in July when it is time for my ADRs?

I think it depends on the restaurant and the time of day. I would suggest making ADRs for anything in Epcot since it's F&W. The signature restaurants at the resorts will probably require ADRs. Sci-Fi at DS is another must. The only places we have tried successfully w/o ADRs are LTT and Biergarten both for late lunch. And once at Ohana's right at 5:00 pm opening. They took pity on us...

We have cancelled ADRs with just a few hours notice. They are always appreciative.

Nobody knows when the online ADRs will be up. People thought today or May 26, but it's up in the air. Hopefully, by July (and June 28 for me), it will be.
As for ADRs, absolutely book them. With the popularity of the Disney Dining Plan, you probably won't be able to get any of the more popular TS, especially not CM, etc. You can always cancel later, but won't be able to book. I would plan to book the ADRs at 90 days out, personally.

I'd suggest getting the ADR's. You can never go wrong by planning ahead.

You will need the ADRs as most restaurants don't hold any walk-in tables anymore. Also, I just heard that there might be a free dining promo for TA's and other special groups that will start in October when the public one ends.

There is no penalty to cancel, even at the last minute, unless you gave them a credit card number. If you gave a CC you have to cancel either 24 or 48 hours in advance to avoid the penalty.

First of all - you won't starve with F&WF going on. We have been able to walk-in at most restaurants at that time of year. Last year, we walked into LeCellier, Le Chef de France, Yachtsman, Tony's, Brown Derby, and Cape May Cafe.
