ADR's for 5 People

ADR's last year were so easy to obtain at 90 days out...we had 15 of them and got everything we wanted at the exact times we wanted. There were just 3 of us...DH, DD, and myself.
This year, we are adding 2 more adults. Due to our party being larger (no longer will we fit at a table for 4) will this seriously impact the chances of getting everything we want at the right times...even if I call 180 days out?

No, I don't think it will hurt your chances. I had a group of 12 last year at XMAS and was able to get every reservation we wanted by calling at 90 days out. I know the dining plan has changed things a bit, but I still think you should be fine 180 days ahead of time. Many people don't even have a trip planned 180 days in advance, let alone know where they want to eat!

I just made a bunch of ADRs for our party of 5 at several places for our trip that begins in 9 days! For the most part we were able to get near the times that we wanted. However, we are going at a relatively quiet time.

I would think that you should have no problems with 180 days notice. A lot of people (like me 2 years ago) didn't even consider making ADRs before my trip, plus most people aren't even aware that the 90 day rule is no longer in effect. The only problems I could imagine are for the most popular places, like CRT. But I doubt you'll have any problems.

I called on the afternoon of the 90th day out (before the 180 day rule) for the Sunday of Mem. Day weekend for Le Cellier and could not get the time we wanted because we were a family of 5. (We just ate a bit later.) I changed a couple of ADRs around at about the 45 day mark and again, couldn't get the exact time I wanted because we were a party of 5.

WHAT WAS SO UPSETTING was that for at least 5 out of our 9 TS meals, the 5 of us were squeezed into a table for 4!!! Our kids were 14, 12 and 9, so it's not like the 5th person was in a high chair. It really made me mad.

I had a party of 8 and called at the 90 day mark (when ressies were 90+10)

I had no problem getting what I wanted including lunch at Cindy's.

That being said, once I had my ressies, there has been very little that I am able to change, as there are no spots available now for a group that large.

As long as you are sure of what you want when you call at the 180 mark you should be fine. It's the tinkering later that's hard to do.

I called at our 90-day mark and had no problems getting a table for 5 at the times(give or take 10 minutes) and places we wanted. We don't leave for 3 more weeks so I can't give you any feedback about our tables, etc.

Made my ADR's 180 days out + 10. Most sit-downs we were a party of 6. I got every time I wanted (CP being only 10 minutes after the time requested and that was for a party of 4), with the exception of CRT (party of 6). I still got CRT, just 2 hours later than I wanted. Oh well, at least we got in! I'm not complaining! I also called that morning at 7 AM and was the first caller for that CM who took my call.

I made ADRs for our party of 5 at the 90 + 10 mark and got everything I wanted at the times I asked for with no problem. Well, one ADR was 10 minutes later than I asked for but that was not a biggie. If it's that close, I count it as what I asked for! I haven't tried to make any changes because I had done a lot of planning and was pretty sure that what I booked the first time wouldn't need to be tinkered with.

Oh gosh, I hope I didn't just jinx myself by saying that.

Oh...I've never even THOUGHT they would sqeeze 5 people into a table for 4! And so often! I would HATE that! We like our elbow room!
