ADR's and Credit Card Question

When booking an ADR, I've read that a credit card is needed to secure your reservation even if one is on the DDP (which we are).

I also read that the credit card used must match the one on the reservation. Is this true? I didn't use my card when we booked; we used the other person's I am going with. Do I need to use his when I make my ADR's?

I could be wrong (but I'm 99% sure I'm not). You don't need a credit card for ADRs with the exception of a few places--CRT, CG, etc. We are on the DDP for the first time for our upcoming trip, and have made quite a few ADRs without a CC guarantee. We did need to use one to book CG, but that was expected. We've booked numerous ADRs before, so I am pretty familiar with the process.

I think you're fine. In fact, the more I think about it, I know you are. When you call to book ADRs, they ask if you're on the Dining Plan, but they don't ask for a confo # or a name. You could give them Jim Smith as a name, they just make a note that are you indeed on the Dining Plan.

I made 7 ADRs for our upcoming trip at the end of October and did not have to provide a credit card for any of them.

there are a few restaurants that require a CC hold. You will not be charged unless you dont show up. I think its a $20 charge per peron on the reservation.

When you do show up, you can use your Card Key for the dining plan or pay with a different credit card. It doesnt matter. The restaurant does not even have the number you booked with. They will call reservations to inform them you did not show and the reservation system will charge the card.

I went to a bunch of restaurants last year, left a CC number with 3, was on the dining plan and never had a problem.

If it is a place requiring one, it doesn't need to be the ressie holder. My mom used her cc for ours in 2007, but I was the one who made the room ressies w/ a gift card. (unless things have changed since then...)

We are on the DDP and I had to provide a credit card to secure 2 reservations: Fantasmic! package @ MM and Akershus. I booked Akershus online and got an email receipt for $0.00. Neither showed up on my credit card statement.

I know for certain I used my primary credit card to make my reservation because I hadn't gotten my Disney Rewards Visa in the mail yet, then I've been using the Disney one for everything since (to rack up rewards), including booking ADRs that require a credit card guarantee. So no, you don't need to use the same card.

This is only for Cinderella castle ADR's - part of the spiel that most people tune out is that you need to bring a photo ID and the credit card used to reserve the restaurant. You may be asked for one or both of these items upon check in. Do they always ask? no but sometimes they do

I think the OP is asking something just a little different. I'm in the same boat so I would like the answer as well. I am the primary holder of our resort ressie. We want to go to the HDD and my mom who is staying in our room wants to pay for this. When you try to make a ressie all the info comes up in my name for the charge to a CC. Can I change that info to her name when making the dining ressie? I think that is what the OP is refering to with her roommate.

I don't know if you can if you make the reservation on-line, but you certainly can if you make the reservation on the phone. They don't really care whose credit card is used, and it has nothing to do with your resort reservation (otherwise, off-site people couldn't book the HDD, and we know they can!). HDD needs to be paid for in advance, so they'll actually charge your card; it's not just a credit card hold for no-shows like CG or the Fantasmic packages are.

Just have your mom's credit card with you when you all show up for the show, and enjoy yourselves!
