Hi all

We have a few ADRs booked for our trip next month (NEXT MONTH!!!!!!) and the main reason for our trip is my Mum's 60th Birthday. On her actual birthday we have breakfast at CP and then dinner at Ohana's before our Wishes Cruise. I have put her birthday celebrations down for those 2 - but wondered if they will get picked up at all other ADRs, or whether I should put it down for each ADR seperately.

I know from reading on here, TRs etc. that birthday peeps often get a cupcake even not on their actual birthday and I think it would be nice for Mum to have this at each ADR - although I understand its not a gauranteed thing.

So short version - should I update ALL ADRs to show her birthday, or will the ones I've already done suffice???

Thanks!

I have found that it is best to mention it to the cast memeber when you check in at each ADR. Just let them know that someone in your party is having a birthday. In my experience if it is on the reservation and you do not mention it, sometimes it gets overlooked. They do have a lot to keep up with. Our best experience was at CP where our table was covered in Mickey heads and all the characters signed a birthday card and got a cute cupcake. Hope you have a great trip.

The only way to ensure a treat for your Mum at a reservation is to order a celebration cake. The podium cakes are fairly reasonably priced and can be ordered when you check in at the restaurant.

To be honest the cupcakes aren't that tasty. They're usually quite dry with an artificial tasting frosting. I wouldn't want one delivered to every single meal for the entire trip, so I wouldn't mention a birthday on every single ADR.

If you want the attention, the "Happy Birthday" from the CM, then I'd keep her birthday button on for the trip. Though CM's are a bit desensitized to buttons because everyone seems to be wearing one these days, they are pretty good at wishing a Happy Birthday in the restaurant.

I hope you have a magical trip and your Mum has a fantastic Birthday at Disney! It's a great place to celebrate a birthday! :goodvibes

I agree. Another idea is to maybe buy her some wrapped fudge/treat she likes around WDW (I wouldn't bring in something like a cinnamon roll or cupcake though as most restaurants have a policy about outside food being brought in) or a little trinket (or maybe even a little coupon that says "this entitles you to a foot massage at the end of the night") and either give it to her at the end of the meal or hide it around where she's sitting if she gets up to use the restroom. I've seen it quite often on these boards, especially trip reports, where people "know" something isn't guaranteed but are disappointed when it "seems like everyone else on here receives pixie dust on their trip" and they don't get any. Make the pixie dust I say! :goodvibes Have a wonderful trip!

Not only should you list it on every adr seperately, you should remind the host/hostess at the restaurant.

Doing this helps to ensure your family gets a server that will "make a big deal" about the celebration. I have experienced a celebration both ways, having it on the adr and then reminding them of this fact and haven't been disappointed when we remind them.

After all turning 60 is an important date...I would definitely celebrate your mother everytime you can. ;)
