Total newbie here with a question - 1st trip to WDW with DH & DS (4):cheer2:.

So I have made all my ADRs for Sept trip at 90 days. I was able to get mostly what I wanted but I have tweaked the times a bit thanks to the great tips I have been reading here. Well, last night I was doing my daily check on Tusker house for 09/09. I currently had 8:20am but I was looking for 8:05am. When I put in 2 adults and 1 child nothing came up. When I entered 3 adults & 1 child up pops 8:05am. I am wondering why? Wouldn't 2 adults & 1 child sit at the same 4 top table as 3 adults & 1 child?

SO when I see the 8:05am I run in the other room and ask DH if he thinks we are safe to take that booking. We talk about it a few minutes and decide to try it. I ended up taking the 8:05am and cancelled our 8:20am. The weird thing is I noticed our 8:20 popped up immediately on the site (there wasn't a 8:20am before) and it would come up whether I entered 2ad/1ch or 3ad/1ch. Why would the 8:20 accomodate a party of 3 or 4 but the 8:05 would only accomodate the party of 4.

I'm going to keep my daily watch for a 8:05amd for a party of 3 but if I don't get will I have a problem when we check in with one less adult? Has anyone does this and have you had issues when you get there?

Thanks for all the great tips and any input is appreciated!!!

I'm guessing there are a few tables against a wall (so they would only seat 3).

You should have no problems, just correct the party size when you check in.

Enjoy your trip!:goodvibes

I've heard reports of it both ways. Some places might have no problem seating 3 of you, some places will not seat you until the entire party arrives (as in, the # of people in your ADR). I don't know what sense it makes to not let you sit and eat, but personally, I would have kept the 8:20 am adr and just show up with the 8:05 people. You would most likely have been seated right with them anyway.

Thanks for the input.
I probably should have just did the show up at 8:05am thing. Oh well - too late now, I'll keep an eye out for a 3 person 8:05am & keep my fingers crossed when we get there.

Relax. Don't worry. People show up all the time with one or two LESS in their group. We've done it several times. Checking in at the podium the cm will ask you "Are all four of your party here"? Just tell them that one person stayed behind (happens all the time when someone isn't feeling well and stays behind in the room). You won't have any problem.

This happened to us our last trip. We were supposed to have family come along with us, but they cancelled last minute. I called Disney dining and the CM told me that I would have to cancel all of my ADR's and then rebook them with the risk of some things being booked. I was told to just show up at the podium and let them know that we would have one less in our party. You might have to wait a little longer for a correct table size, but you will get in.

you'll be fine. I do this all the time, I have never had a problem.

My first ADR two weeks ago should have only been for two but it wound up being for 3. (Error on some one's part...probably mine, since when I made the ressie, I wasn't sure if the third person would be there then or not.) We had no problem getting in with just 2 instead of 3.

I would think the only ADRs where that might be an issue would be if there is a credit card guarantee involved, but I can't say anything on that with any sense of certainty.

Thanks for all the info. I was afraid that I totally messed up our breakfast that day.
