We will be going to MGM over Memorial Day Weekend to attend Star Wars Weekend. I am torn between trying to make an ADR for lunch (or dinner) but know my sons will not want to miss any of the activities. Am I better off doing all CS, or is there a time during the weekend when the Staw Wars themed activities are over and an ADR would work? Any advice is appreciated.

I'm struggling with this as well. This will be our first Star Wars Weekend so I really don't know what to expect. I was going to dedicate Fri-Sun just to Star Wars, but my son has graciously said that he would give up 1 day, but it had to be so we could go to AK for Expedition Everest.

Anyway, I'm thinking that most of the SWW events will be finished by early evening, so dinner ADRs would be ok. But I think I'm just going to wing it with counter service for lunch.

We'll be there at the same time. I went ahead & made a lunch reservation at Sci-Fi & dinner at Mama Melrose. It's our first SW weekend too but I'm expecting the CS to be mobbed. I read the SW parade is at 12:00 so I made my reservation for 1:00 & Mama for 7:30. We are not doing FDP & plan to attend the 2nd show. JMHO but I think it's better to have a reservation than not.

I was thinking if it was really hot I might want the AC break ;) .
got2travel- our 3rd day (Monday) will be to AK for the same reason- we are flying out at 3:45, but will be at AK at opening for a few trips in Everest!
Anyone out there who has gone to SWW with any advice on planning meals? If the Heroes character meal ever gets started I'll really be facing a delima (sp).

It's been a few years since I've been to Star Wars Weekend, but if I remember correctly, most of the events take place at several times throughout the day, and the parade is sometime in the afternoon. There are also a lot of character meet and greets all during the day . . . so, I'd guess that even if you made reseverations for lunch or dinner, you'd still be able to catch the activities at other times of the day. Perhaps the Sci-Fi or the 50's Prime Time would be good, as they're pretty close to Star Tours, where all of the activites take place. It does get pretty hot at that time of the year (and many events are outdoors) so a nice air conditioned lunch would be nice. :)

And, if you're kiddos are really into Star Wars, try and get picked for the Jedi Academy, which takes place right in front of Star Tour several times a day. The kids get to learn some Jedi moves and then face off against Darth Vader. Nicely organized and the kids had a blast.

We are going in May & this will be our first Star Wars Weekend.

I've been studying up on this & reading all the reports/reviews.
This is what I've learned:

* The activities each day are over by 6:00 p.m.,,(in the past anyway)
(So we made an ADR in MGM for 6:30 p.m....we're on the Dining Plan)

* I've read several times that everything there is to do can usually be done in 1 day, so we may not go back for another day...we'll have to see if DS8 wants to.

DS8 is very excited!!

MaggiMay- Thanks for the reply. We will be going Sat/Sun. WE have eaten at both the 50's and SciFi. I do not think my boys will want to sit in either of them for lunch if they feel they will be missing something. I'm thinking of doing a 3ish time for milkshakes at the SciFI.
