ADR Suggestions and help for a newbie???

Hi everyone! I'm relatively new to the dis and am just starting to look around the restaurant board. You all have so much knowledge it amazes me! Just looking at the abbreviations for the restaurants had my head spinning!

Before I start making ADRs, I wanted some opinions from some veterans. What are your favorite places to eat and what time of day (breafkast, lunch dinner) do you like to go?

It will be me, dh and dd5. Neither dh or dd have been to Disney World before, and I've only been once. I was on college and we went for a dance team competition. I was only in the park for one afternoon and we didn't even get to eat there - we ate all our meals at the food court at All Star Sports. So, I'm truly new to this!

Sorry, I forgot to post before that we definitely want to do CRT, but not sure for breakfast or lunch. Also, Chef Mickey's - again not sure what time of day.

Here are my favorites:

1. Chef Mickey's (breakfast): Buffet Style w/The Fab 5 (Goofy, Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald), fun atmosphere (everyone seems to be smiling there), good food & good service, great character interaction - spent lots of time & saw some characters twice.

2. Crystal Palace (breakfast): Buffet Style w/Pooh, Eyeore, Piglet, Tigger. Good food - they have puffed french toast, which I always look forward to. Good service & good character interaction - no complaints. Atmosphere is fun also-Tigger led a parade of kids around CP last time we were there.

3. Liberty Tree Tavern (dinner): Goofy, Pluto, Minnie, Chip n Dale. The food is good: ham, flank steak, mac & cheese, etc. I love the dinner rolls w/honey butter. It's all you can eat & is served to you, which is nice. Character interaction is good here as well.

4. Coral Reef (lunch/dinner): Regular sit-down TS meal - no characters. Very good atmosphere w/view of the aquarium. Food is excellent. May be a bit pricey if you don't have dining plan. Service was good.

Le Cellier & Kona Cafe are supposed to be very good also. We are trying them for the 1st time on our trip this year, so I don't have 1st hand knowledge as of yet. Hope this helps.

Another vote for Crystal Palace for breakfast.

Some other places I enjoy are:

The Plaza in the MK
Beaches and Cream - does not take ADR's
Kona - Dinner
Tony's for lunch
Mama Melrose's for lunch or dinner

I just have a quick question - what's the difference between Crystal Palace and Cinderella's Royal Table? And what's the breakfast at Grand Floridian?

One difference between Crystal Palace and CRT is the characters. Crystal Palace has Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet while CRT has the Princesses. Crystal Palace is a buffet but I'm not sure about CRT. I have not eaten there since they made it a character meal. At GF the character meal is 1900 Park Fair. We are trying it for the first time in June and I've heard it is really good. The characters are Alice, Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins and I think some of the Pooh characters. This one is also a buffet.

Hi there! I'm definitely not a veteran, but we LOVED the dining plan last year and made the most of it. We (fiancee and I) are going back in September with my daughter who is 4 (will be turning 5 right after we get back from our trip).

DD LOVED the Princess Storybook at Askerhaus in Epcot (Norway). You don't have to spend 2 TS credits for lunch/dinner (I think at CRT you do???) and you get GREAT character interaction. We saw Cinderalla, Belle, Ariel, Jasmine and Aurora. Also, the food is really good.

Ohana at the Poly is another favorite. We had a blast, and the food is yummy. The shrimp and won tons are TDF. Oh, and they have great "adult" fruity drinks (very welcome after a long day at the parks).

Hmmm...we loved the food and service at Les Cellier in Canada in Epcot (although my DD was not thrilled and was pretty cranky the whole time). But the food sooooo was worth it, so we will probably try to go back this year.

Also, Boma at AKL was very different and good (and the resort is gorgeous). We stayed at WL last year, and our dinner at Boma convinced us to stay at AKL this year.

The food at Coral Reef was so-so, but the view is great and DD was mesmorized the whole time by the "fishies".
