ADR Required?

Hi All - I apolgize if this has been asked before, but I'm really curious how necessary ADR's are. I've been to WDW in October before, but not since 2001. When I called Disney Dining this evening, it sounded like things are really booking up. Is this common nowadays? Do you absolutely need ADR's or is it still possible to walk-up to resturants in the parks? I'm worried that I didn't make reservations and now it's too late which means we'll be stuck eating counter service the whole time!

ADRs are becoming a necessity if you want to guarantee getting into a good restaurant these days. Check some of the resort restaurants, excellent choices and sometimes available on short notice. Good luck!

Totally a necessity. I would call asap. Also if you don't get what you want, check out the cancel/trade ADR thread...I had luck on there. Good luck

The dining plan has increased business at TS restaurants even in Oct. If you have a specific one you want to eat at you probably need ADR's. There have been changes in the plan for next year that may cut down on people using it. We will wait to see if that makes getting into restaurants easier but not this year. It is still possible to do a walk up but depending on the place they might not be taking any. Le Cellier in Epcot is probably out of the question. Some others might not be.

For most spots, yeah you'll need a reservation now. Not always but most of the time.

Unfortunatey you'll need ADR's (I'm not a planner so I hate 'em!) if you want to eat at pretty much any table service place

I'll be there Sept 29th-Oct 7th. I made ADRs at 180 days out and got everything I wanted. However, over the last several weeks I've changed my mind and have been trying to change three of them. After multipe phone calls I finally got one of my new choices, but still haven't been able to change the other two. I'd start calling this morning at 0700am ET and be willing to eat at some off times. You might also try more of the resort restaurants, as they normally don't seem quite as full (except for places like Chef Mickey's. 1900 Park Faire, WCC, and 'Ohana).
