ADR Question

My BF and I are booked for free dining in Sept. My dad is going to join us for at least a few days but due to work and some other things, he probably won't know how long he can join us for until July. So my question is, when I book my ADRs in June and book them for three people, what happens if dad doesn't end up coming? Can I just call and switch it to 2 people or do I have to cancel the ADR and rebook? Also, same situation but with 4 people (my sister also might be joining us for a few days...she lives in FL).

Always book for more people(not less) You can always downsize once you get to the podium at the restaurant.You can not increase your party size as easily.
