Ok, thankfully Disney has allowed (finally) passholders to purchase the DDP!!! However, this means I'm a DDP virgin. LOL.

We are going Jan 1 - Jan 11 2009. Do you think I'll need to make ADR's now? Or do you think we'll be ok if we make them once we get there? I have only a vague idea of what park we will be at which day not to mention what restaurant or time we'd like to eat. I'm thinking that because it's a slower time of year we won't have much trouble making DR's once we get there and have a better idea of what, where and when we want to eat.

Any thoughts??:confused3

you really should make them now. we booked about 80 days out and had some trouble getting all the ADR's we wanted, but a little persistence paid off and we have all of the ones we want. good luck. :thumbsup2

Personally, yes, I think you should make them now. You can always cancel or try to make changes later. Of course you could get lucky. But I haven't been able to get a decent ADR that was made during a trip since 2001.

I would suggest you go to allears.net and check out the menus to see what interests you. If I was paying for the dining plan, I would want to be able to eat at the restaurants I want and not have to settle for leftovers or unusual times. Even at slower times of the year, lots of people make their reservations many months in advance.

If you really don't want to plan, maybe the DDP isn't for you. Maybe doing CS and trying for a couple of TS would work better for your touring style.:)

Thanks for the quick replies! I guess my hubby and I will have to sit down tonight and decide where we want to eat. Afterall the ressies aren't set in stone, and something is better than nothing.

Which phone number do most people use? Central Res or the Dining number?

I would make them now - I'm there Jan 4-11 and booked ADRs back in August and got almost all the times we wanted (then), but now have been trying to change some times around and have had a harder time doing that, so they're definitely getting booked up, at least for the popular kids' dining times of betw. 5:30p-7p.
Good luck!

Have to agree with everyone else! You need to book ASAP. Your 180 day window opened up in July and the choice ADRs and times have been booking up everyday since then.
