Hello all I have a question about the dining.
we will be there for 6 nights.
I only made reservations for 3 dinners. character dinners.
for the rest of the table serve meals we felt like being spontaneous. will we be out of luck for any table service sit down restaurant if we don't have a reservation? I hate planning my day around a meal reservation. so the 3 nights of res are already too much for me, but i wanted to make sure the kids got some character meals in. we will be there after thanksgiving, but well before xmas.

During that time you will probably be able to find something but still need them if you want to be sure of the most popular spots. If you are ok with being turned away and having to eat Counter service then you are ok with no ADRs

We were there Sp/Oct and I made ADR's well in advance for Raglan Road, Narcoosies, Rose and Crown, Mama Melrose (Fantasmic package) Boma, and Le Cellier.

We could have walked in at Raglan Road, Narcoosies, Rose and Crown, and Boma. There were plenty of open table.

We did walk in at Jiko (after walking across the hall and cancelling Boma) and we had no trouble securing a last-minute Fantasmic package at Brown Derby (I had to cancel Mama Melrose because the night before I fractured a tooth on the bread at Narcoosies and had to have oral surgery but that's a whole 'nuther post!)

The only restaurants on the list where we actually needed the ADR was Le Cellier and Mama Melrose.

Fantastic! My family is leaving on Thursday and they want to "wing" Thursday night. I told them that we should make a reservation- they are all saying "well, we arrive that morning and don't want to have the day planned"...

I'm such a planner and with all the other things they don't want to plan, I'm getting a bit annoyed! I'd have our entire itinerary set up with a touring plan if they would let me!

I can't wait til DH and I go with our kids alone- then we can plan plan plan!

I don't know your exact dates but I know people were having a hard time getting some ADR's the first week of Dec. There was about 3 things going on around then. So if you are going then and you are wanting a specific place I would call but if you are up for anything you should be fine going and then just calling while you are there and see what is available.

have a great trip.

Well I guess we like to plan ahead to get the ADR's we want an just plan to be there when the time comes. We get the hoppers and tend to bounce all over the place, Beats the hassle of being turned away. We were there the last week in Sept. I saw people being turned away and there were empty tables, why I don't know. So I would book but that is me.

I have friends trying to book a getaway weekend for next week and every resort on property is showing as sold out as well as the Swan and Dolphin. I would hate to try making ADR's last minute next week.

For the first full week in December - if that is when you are going you will be in good company. There is a major internet gathering going on. It is also a prime week for DVC'ers. It is not the quiet time it used to be.

Motto- Book now, cancel later :)

Book those other nights, and then when you get there if you really want to go to another place- try and book the new place and cancel the other one.

It's better to have SOMETHING then NOTHING :)

I would definitely make ADRs for those TS restaurants. Otherwise, you'll probably be eating CS for dinner. We go in the slow season and always make ADRs.

Good luck!
