ADR question about credit card payment

We are not staying at the resorts...

I'm a little confused on the ADR. Some places I have seen that you have to reserve them with a CC, other places you only have to reserve ones like Cinderella, and that charges the full amount immediately, and I've seen stuff on cancelation.

I'm wanting to get some reservations in this next week and while I am sure they will explain things to me over the phone, I'd rather have a bit of knowledge.

The one that I know for sure right now that we will do is The Crystal Palace.

Also, 3 of the people in our party may not be coming. How are things like that handled? I just call and say our number reduced by 6?

Only CRT and dinner shows ask for a credit card. If you are using the DDP call to book these and they will use your card as a hold.

If you book a table for 6 and only 3 are going you can't just call up and change the number. You would actually have to cancel and rebook the reservation. It would be best just to show up with less people if this is the case. So much less hassle. If you are doing CRT or a dinner show you have to change the reservation or you will be charged the full amount.

Thank you! That clarifies a lot.

Actually, I realized I mistyped previously.

We have 10 that will potentially be going, only 7 are positive at this point.

As mentioned, the CRT and the Dinner Shows will be prepaid events.

There are also a few restaurants and dinner events that have a CC hold. These include Akershus, California Grill, Fantasmic Packages, and Candlelight Processional packages. (CP not applicable to your stay, it's a Christmas thing).

For these locations, they will take your CC number but not charge it unless either you don't show up, or you cancel after the deadline (something like 24 hours out from reservation time). The charge on these ranges from $10 to $20, so it's not the full price of the meal. There are also reports that if only some of the group shows up, you may get charged the "no show fee" for those that don't. (There are also reports at CG that this doesn't apply, since it's not a fixed price meal).
