Hello All,

I will be visiting WDW from 01/29/12 -02/02/12 which is not supposed to be a busy time, yet I am finding little availability for dining reservations.

Does WDW offer walk ups anymore for restaurants? It seems most restaurants say "Advance Reservations Strongly Recommended"

I will be traveling with my DW and DD3, so we don't necessarily know where we will be at any given time.

Historically do spots open up at restaurants or what you see now online it?

They never did offer walkups as they don't hold space back for walkups. Whether or not you will get to walk in completely depends on how busy the restaurant is at the time you try walking up.

If you want any character meals, I'd say make reservations. Yes, spots do open up when people cancel. Try the cancellation threads for January and February (requests are not allowed on the threads; just check to see if anyone is cancelling a reservation you might want.)

Are you staying on property? I ask only because even though you don't want to be tied down to reservations it might be worth it to book a breakfast at your resort (if they have a TS restaurant there). You know where you will be in the morning and it could be your "big" meal of the day - character meals book very fast but it does not hurt to keep checking the system :thumbsup2

If you eat at odd times you have a better chance of being able to walk-in. For dinner try right when the restaurants open, after that it might be hard to walk in until after 8:30pm. For lunch try when they open or after 2pm. TS breakfast in the parks is crazy unless you have an ADR.

Dining at Disney has changed quite a bit in a few years. EVen in slow times it is vital to make adrs if you want to eat at a TS restaurant. Yes it is difficult to know what you want or where you will be, but planning that one thing ahead of time is well worth the alternative....eating CS your whole trip.

Sorry, but it is the truth, very rarely can you walk up anymore. Does it happen? Yes, but most not likely where you want or when you want.

We always make reservations. Regardless what time of year we go! You must remember its free Dining time as well..So that means more people eating in the restaurants!

I was just trying to change some previous reservation for the week before you are there and I'm having a hard time finding anything good available still.
