ADR for solo travelers

I kinda wish that the disboards dining search tool had a setting to show all the restaurants that had their own separate bar sections. That way I could setup my ADRs where it would be kind of a middle ground between counter service and table service. Plus, it could be easier meeting new people that way.

That is a great idea - wish they had it!!

Here is a pretty good drinking resource for Disney. I found this last night.

Edit: Ok, I guess because I haven't reached my 10 post minimum yet I can't insert links. Just do a Google search for drinking at Disney.

My BIL keeps saying I'm going to meet my future husband when I go in September haha.

Does Disney discriminate for being a party of ONE??
I was trying to book 'Ohana for my June trip...for dinner. There was NO availability for the entire trip for one for dinner. But then I checked for a party of four and party of two, and there was availability. What the heck?? Granted it's a late dinner (around 9:30pm)...but still. So what I did was book it for two, and I'm going to call and reduce it to one...they can't tell me there's no availability if I have already booked it, right?

What?! That's insane! Did you call, or do it online?

I've never tried to eat at Ohana solo, since it is family style. I wasn't sure how that would work. Has anyone else done it before?

That was online. I went ahead and booked it for two.

I will call and change it to one as soon as I know for sure that my friend isn't coming along (which at this point I'm pretty sure she's not -- she was in a car wreck last week and fractured her hip...walking around with a walker, so I'm not sure that in two months she'll feel up to going)

That happens to me at alot of resturaunts-no availability for one, but plenty for two. So I called to make dining reservations, and the CM said that it was a glitch in the system (?) What she suggested is to make ADRs for two, and then show up alone-it's the same size table.

That would work fine, except for the places that require a credit card. And that's the one that I had the problem with

So where are your favorite places to eat alone? I will be making my ADRs within the next week or so for my solo trip in October. I only want to make 3 since the highlight will be Food & Wine.

I definitely want to have breakfast at Kona because that is my favorite thing to do, but what are your favorites?

Cali Grill the view is great and you can come back later if you like and watch the fire works

Grand Flordian Grill food is great and it gives you a chance to look around this grand hotel

I also enjoy Shulas at the Dolphin then take a walk around the Boardwalk or walk over to Hollywood Studios :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful time there is so much to see and do and the people are great I met a lot of great people and made many new friends .

I like to eat at San Angel Inn and Sci Fi. The food I'd nothing fancy, but the atmosphere is great!

I have gone solo to WDW 5 times and have 2 more trips planned for next year. I have to admit that I have never had a CM laugh at me when I made ADR's though. I typically get "Wow, I would love to be able to travel solo or I'm jealous." You can make ADR's online too (which is what I did for most of mine). Also, if you are unable to find a table with a party of one, try a party of two. It is amazing how many tables suddenly appear.

I love the freedom that comes with going solo. You get to go where you want, when you want. Eat where & when you want. Ride an attraction 10 times (my fave is the Haunted Mansion that I rode 15 times in the week & a half I was at WDW last November) or skip one all together (I don't do coasters, so Space, Splash, ToT, RnRC & EE are all out for me). You get to relax and know that the only person you have to be concerned with having a good time is yourself.

Some of my favorite places to dine are:

Crystal Palace
Rose & Crown
50's Primetime
Via Napoli
Artist Point
Whispering Canyon
Flying Fish
Citricos
Beaches & Cream
Yachtsman Steakhouse
Le Cellier
California Grill
Boulangerie Patisserie

If you are going during the Food & Wine Festival, some great food is at Australia, Canada, UK, Italy & Germany, although we had some good food at some of the other "countries" too. The lamb chop at Australia & Salmon in Canada kiosks were AMAZING!!!
